Most likely its the Intel graphics card.
It should work... keep in mind there can be a value at x, y, and z.
For each in array cycles over all of those, so you would need to be careful with your conditions.

One little quirk I'll add is spritefont defaults to zero when your adding frames.

Distance(x1,y1,x2,y2) might be useful here, provided you can get the picking right.
You will need to create a uv map in Blender. You can then edit that map in your preferred image editor, and load that image over in preferences where it says front face.
Check utube for some tuts on doing that... there are a few.
Yeah, just get out the photoshop, and fill in your uv map.
Should be pretty close to what your wanting.
Did you check unbound scrolling?
