  • Regarding the low resolution graphics, there are some high resolution texture packs available for the game. It obviously does nothing for the chunky look overall, but adds some quality without ruining the retro look.

It's an interesting game. If he continues to add features and make improvements, the graphics will matter less and less.

  • That doesn't specify the video card, but judging from the ram/cpu it's probably not a crappy onboard.

Are you using any shaders or plugins on the layer the platforms are in or anything? Otherwise try sizing down the sprite, as was already mentioned.

Good luck with finding the problem!

  • You both are reading WAY too deeply into my use of silly ... and I am not even referring to the ability to change the extension. Merely the idea that it would be added security.

I read every word and in fact switch file extensions quite frequently for work. I fully support the fact that an ogg file (in this case) should load with a different extension ... my ONLY point was the security factor.

    Edited for sarcasm

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Sensing a little defensive response there, so take it easy. I meant the need to rename something just to keep a casual user from realizing it's an image/whatever. That's the silly part.

I don't think the extension issue itself is silly, so relax.

  • My only question, why is newt such a downer!? Just kidding.

And yeah I did separate images in case you want a color slant or something.

  • I haven't tried myself, but can't you just make the ogg files hidden within the folder? The same people that can't figure out you changed the name of a file, also likely won't know how to show hidden files

In all honesty though, what you're requesting is pretty silly.

I would say this is a good way to do it for now. You can add more links in the chain simply by adding more image points.

    Hope that helps

  • Have to go with web for the sole reason that it can potentially be played on virtually any platform with a capable browser.

  • and I presume the song is embedded in the file?

Read the original post? Separate music file.

Fair use may indeed apply, but that doesn't make you immune in every circumstance. Just advise against using the music rather than even having a risk at all, however small.

  • Unfortunately this method of distribution would still be illegal for the music. Fortunately however, it is extremely unlikely anyone who would care will see it, let alone do anything about it.

  • Same thing can be done with only one event. Place copies of a single waypoint flag where needed, and then pick one to move to at random.

  • It is of course looking good so far. I really hope you find a good solution in the end, because the performance does not seem to be there.

Dual core systems are pretty common, just don't want to have to require a quad core system for a 2D game to perform at a solid frame-rate.
