  • Oh yes, Far Cry 2 looks good also! I was picking from games already on the market though. Uncharted is my favorite.

I also think Rage from Id Software is looking great.

Maybe you can adapt a similar way of moving the ball around? I much enjoyed playing this game on DS, and I think something of the sort would work well here.

I don't have much else to add which hasn't already been said.

  • I would generally agree Crysis doesn't look realistic, but it is still the most technically advanced game on the market.

As for artistic style along with the technical side, my favorite goes to Uncharted.

  • Even Microsoft uses Apple computers for a lot of their media. I have both and prefer neither one more than the other. Windows has two issues for every one issue Apple has, but I still find I can swap them and be fine.

I like the naming schemes for both with file types though ... execute ... damage ... good stuff. (I know they don't translate exactly as such, but they may as well)

  • 1. It's an okay idea. Could be better if presented more complete with all the core features running. Hard to tell from just knocking a couple balls around. Another thing I felt was that the "shine" you did for the floor, etc, came across more like fog. Is it fog? If so, ignore that!

    2. I smell tech demo more than anything I would pass on this one.

    3. Inspired by Little Big Planet at all? That sack guy looks a bit too similar to the characters in LBP I think. Other than that, I'd like to see something like that I think. It's sort of like your first idea but the mechanics are a rag-doll instead of a ball.

  • I think those look great, but they don't fit the forum for some reason. Perhaps size or such, but I'm not totally certain of that.

Maybe make them half the size and tone them down just a notch.

  • I see what you're talking about now. I think it's because the offset command itself has that limitation.

Huh, I didn't realize that. Bummer. Well, I guess I should rename the thread to "Dropshadow with angle change" ... hehe

  • Well I was only able to use the existing offset commands, I don't know what restrictions are there. I'm looking at it right now however.

To make sure I understand you, is it always 32 pixels? I ask because from trying it out myself it seemed to work right with the exception of the shrinking.

  • Well, it shrinks the shadow the higher the number. If you go too high, it's probably 1 pixel or not there at all.

I'll see if I can stop that. However, I think a height modifier would need to be added.

  • I edited the dropshadow shader to add the offset commands, so now you can set the angle of the shadow. And with lesser success, distance.

I don't know if anyone will find the small addition useful but I thought I would post it

  • Great progress! The first real release should be great. I hope people will really flock to it.

    one step closer

I see the space bar sits in a convenient position. Might make those button masher games more intense ...

Oh and hi! Maybe I should have chosen a different thread for a first post
