  • I don't mind photoshop, but dislike how bloated it (and most adobe software) is. As for Gimp, I didn't like interface, so I just use Paint.Net instead.

With some of the freely available plugins, Paint.Net is almost par with Photoshop =]

  • I've seen some commercial tools made in Construct, but no games yet. Mostly because Construct hasn't been out very long compared to more established makers.

  • Please stop using these really odd sites Stalker247, use the stuff Kyatric provided. In fact, just use the drop box one. Drop box can host anything and is the one most people here use.

  • In that case, you can try Infiniminer (also open source I believe) and a really HD version of Minecraft can be found here (not open source).

Also, I've seen someone make a 3D game in Construct before complete with 3D models (before the 3d model plugin was made). He made everything from scratch and math though, so it's possible, but very hard.

  • I don't know if it's on the community developers minds, but if it isn't then it will probably not be finished sadly.

However, using R0j0hounds render to texture plugin I think you can change the current texture of a 3d model object. That would make it possible to at do facial animations of the object.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Here is a free and open source Minecraft clone if that's what you wanted.

And if you want yet another open source one, try this.

  • "you're not just looking at check boxes, that's just some off the top of my head."

    <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> You obviously know nothing about mmf

I'd have to say he's right though. Even if using Click products for a long time means you'll be used to it, a newcomer will always prefer Construct's way of doing things. I also find it easier to see where I went wrong in Construct as well.

  • There is a beginners guide book in development, but I don't know when exactly it will be released (probably around December/January).

The next best thing is to go on the Scirra chatroom (click Chat! up top) and ask someone for instruction there.

  • Looks pretty cool, but the site didn't let me download it =/ Can you upload it with DropBox or just another host?

  • Yup, just set a custom collision mask in the Physics behaviour properties and then edit the mask. You can draw an outline of your shape then.

For spheres, just choose the collision mask of "Elipse"

  • I've used most Click products in the past, and never touched them again after finding Construct.

Construct gets new plugins and effects every once in a while that add some features MMF has (eg: online thanks to SciDave's Network plugin), but the built-in ones are still great compared to what a vanilla installation of MMF provides.

I guess you can say Construct took influence from MMF, and then improved on it. The only problem is when you stumble on a game-breaking bug, but most of them can be avoided with caution now.

  • Can't test them, I haven't got the SpriteFont plugin at the moment sorry. As for the jittering, that sounds like it can be fixed by deactivating the bounce behaviour after the coin hits the ground with a speed less than 2 (or try other values until it works how you'd like).
