  • I don't have experience with this myself i think some people have gotten Sprite Lamp to work in C2.

    https://www.scirra.com/forum/sprite-lamp-software-that-creates-dinamic-shadow_t91062

There was also Sprite Dlight, don't know what happened with that though.

  • It's all done in various loops, so it appears to happen at once. You could do the same with yours. Put the mining code into a repeat or while condition.

I made it a long time ago and it was never finished or improved, i'm not sure where the .capx is now, and it was before tilemap support, but here are a couple of the articles you might find interesting.

Basically i created my own height map and set each height as a different layer of terrain, so the lowest height would be water, then sand, then land, then mountains etc.

Maybe you can do a better job. It something i'd like to revisit and have another go at eventually.

  • Cool work. I love this stuff. I remember reading the same article along with many others when i playing around with island creation. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/159885981/islandgenV1/index.html refresh browser to recreate.

  • If you're hoping to get your game on Steam, here is an interesting article written by the data mining website SteamSpy. It covers geography, sales and genres, common misconceptions, and the way to succeed.

  • This looks really great guys. Can i ask why this is your last C2 game?

  • Looking very professional alextro!

  • I play tested this game so much back then it had ceased being fun a long time ago, so i lost heart and motivation to finish it.

I decided at the time to have a break, to regain some perspective and not play or even think about it, so it's been sat on my HD with the rest of my unfinished projects.

Pretty funny looking back at this dev log how the games progressed, v10 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/159885981/pb10/index.html

I tried the last version again today for the first time in well over a year. I think it's kind of fun now and can definitely appreciate what i was trying to do at the time.

The last version i posted was bug filled, i'd actually done a lot of work on it since then but never got around to posting it here, so i figure i'd update the preview now and ask for all your honest opinions on it. Is it fun, is it worth finishing?

If i recall correctly i fixed a heap of bugs, started work on creating the levels (100 in total), prepared for the artwork to be implemented, and added a sort of help system which appears when a new spell is introduced.

EDIT - Ok so theres still a bug where sometimes the dialogues get stuck, you need to restart the game if that happens If it keeps happening just skip them when they appear.

  • Gigatron have you seen these? http://sprite3d.minimal.be/Karting/, http://sprite3d.minimal.be/Rally/. http://minimal.be/lab/Sprite3D/. What do you make of it? A general purpose simple 3d engine using sprites instead of 3d models would be a cool plugin.

  • I'm trying to run the "lights and geometry" example but i get this error -

Uncaught Type error: Cannot read property 'setHexR' of undefined Quazi3D_plugin.js line 2656 (col 42).

I have the latest stable build of Chrome, Construct and NW.js.

Also when i try the other examples and try clicking on any light action like lights/hemisphere it always brings up "Auto update shadows" instead. I'm guessing it's because there arnt any light based commands in the Q3D master that i can see, so how are the lights being created/set? The examples don't use any Q3dLight objects. I'm just trying to learn how to set up a scene.

A bit disappointed with the lack of docs to be honest

    My original post from September.

  • So please, respect Quazi's private life and his personal will. When he wants and has the time to work on the plugin, he will do that.

    ?

What he's been able to achieve and whether it was possible to do in C2 and how it compares to other products is all irrelevant. Yes he's obviously worked hard on the project, but he also asks money for his work, fair enough it's not a huge sum and i don't expect him to be chained to his desk but you simply can't turn around and behave like its some free plugin with a donate button.

For your information i've posted questions in this thread, non have been answered, and still haven't, and of the 4 examples 1 produces an error, also reported with no response, and the other appears to use commands which have since been superseded.

Like you i've since answered my own questions (apart from the error), i was simply giving my feedback on the current situation as it stood at the time of posting. You've given yours, i guess we see the situation differently. How others see the situation and whether they think i'm being too hard on him and if i'm a jerk is up to them.

I'm not trying to pick a fight but to be fair you must have known what you were getting into when you created it, how difficult it would be, how frequently Construct gets updated and the limitations of the SDK. You must also have known how busy you'd likely be in the future with your studies or whatever. I certainly understand your reasons and can relate but if you're selling a product i don't think its a good enough excuse. Either make the situation clear or don't sell the product.

If you'd had a disclaimer on the plugins website and here on the front page of this thread saying you're pretty much done with it and use it "as is" then thats fine, and to be honest if that was the case i probably wouldn't have bothered buying it. I was never expecting unity, the plugin seems fine, but i was expecting some indication on how to use it.

As someone who did buy it i think i have a right to post my experiences, and only fair to warn other potential customers what to expect. You've posted what the situation is (something you should have done in the first place) and so people can decide for themselves now. I've had my say so i'll leave it at that.

  • The skeptic in me thinks that some of the companies now just do this stuff in the hope of being bought out after gaining some attention and making their millions like Oculus Rift and Facebook.

They're basically making Facebook OS here anyway.
