This is currently by design, as negative Z values complicate the "is in viewport" check.
Why not rotate it in the Layout View?

It may well have been mentioned in the release notes. But from what you've said I'm afraid it's difficult to identify any specific release. Testing your project regularly in the latest C3 release would also help identify specific releases when things change. The longer you leave it, the harder it is to work out what happened.
It's difficult to comment - we've made loads of changes. We strive to keep all projects backwards-compatible, but sometimes bug fixes or other intentional changes can affect how projects work. The best way to check if something has changed your project is test it in older releases and find which release made the change.
The built-in projects seem to open just fine. As ever if you run in to any problems, please file an issue following all the guidelines.
As we've regularly noted since November, you'll need to contact addon developers for an update if a third-party addon does not work in classic mode. It should only take them 5-10 minutes - it's a really simple change.
This sounds like the same issue as discussed in this other comment thread. In short we fixed a bug that actually caused incorrect vertical alignment in some cases. If you'd repositioned text objects to compensate for the bug, you'll need to put them back.
Do you mean for the editor? It's not necessary - try using the 'Install as app' option in Chrome.
