  • I've been gone for a year or two but WTH happened to the site colours? Everything is all saturated and high contrast, like that Windows setting for Blind people...

  • What I did was use a trigger sprite in front what I wanted to interact with. So lets say there was a sign I wanted people to read. I would place the sign and then I would place a transparent sprite, in the location the player should be standing when they want to read the sign. I used to an event similar to this:

    If Player is overlapping TriggerSign06

    And Presses KeyboardButton A

    DisplayMessage()

You would really only create one pop up window and then, based on which trigger was triggered, you'd send in a string of text.

  • The lack of replies has helped me decide. Good luck Scirra Community. I'll see you out there.

  • Totally possible, if you know what you are doing. Seeing as how you are asking, you probably won't be able to. I suggest you make simple games first, Pong as said above, Frogger, Space Invaders, etc.

Then see how you feel after making those games.

  • Well people like to see persistence developer who has determination to keep develop a playable game to joy with. No matter what happens in the process, he/she will continue to finish the game because of dedication. Don't do something to just pleased people. You may want to share something useful but you need also to have really a passion on it.

I don't really care to make an RPG for profit. I really enjoy the teaching and creating aspect. Since I haven't fully dived into the systems of an RPG yet, this seems like the next logical choice.

  • Question:

How interested are you in seeing an RPG created from beginning to end? I started an RPG series, on YouTube, about 2 years ago, but I never finished it. In fact, I barely got started. I think twenty or so episodes were released. To this day, I am still getting messages, asking me to finish the series or to start a new one. While I do not have the original capx anymore, I am considering starting fresh. IF there is a desire for it.

    Plan:

I would stream daily, on Twitch, and upload the videos to YouTube the next day. I feel doing the series this way, would allow for more people to follow along in real time, to understand my thought process behind my decisions, to see the errors I come across and how to correct them. As well as the ability to answer questions in real time. This will all be done in Construct 2 (not 3), with no plugins. The targeted platform will be Android and Windows/Mac.

    Conclusion:

None of this will happen without an interest from the community, so please let me know how you feel.

  • Beautiful guys! I will get working on those right away!

  • 20 views after 48 hours and no replies. I have been gone a year, did this community die out?

  • As the title says, post your ideas.

Is there anything you have been stuck on? Or perhaps there is a topic you would like more clarification or wish it was expanded on? Let me know what you'd like to see and I will add it my queue!

  • Thank you for the reply but unfortunately Families will not work for what I am trying to do here. I guess I will just have to duplicate the events for each enemy type.

  • Hey there,

So basically, I have one monster who, when hit, pops up the damage received, over its head. It has the normal instance variables that an enemy normally would and its own movement etc. This all works great for now...

My problem is that I want to add different types of monsters into the game and somehow group the collision events with my weapon. Unfortunately, when I use a Family, the game doesn't work as intended. Now, I can manually insert each onWeaponHit for every single monster and this will work how I want it to... but I feel this probably isn't the correct way.

Here is what I am currently using. Should I just repeat this for each monster type or do you know of a way to handle all of this with something simpler?

  • I just hope that C3 isnt built on HTML5.

  • Lots of problems exporting to PC with C2. Unless C3 updates this I would steer clear, hopefully c3 will majorly improve this...

This is why I stopped using Construct 2. Too many exporting problems and work around and performance issues. HTML5 was not the future.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I would but I find your profile picture offensive. Especially with all the elementary school students that frequent this site.
