  • Are you wanting to change the window size at run time?

If so, try putting all your Gui stuff into a family and set the position of that.

  • A little more information could help a lot. Why do you want to switch them to solid when they are Inactive?

  • How have you got the enemyAi working? If you use a state based active/inactive you can switch them off whenever.

Ok so it is the solid thing that is the problem. Can you not leave the enemies with the solid attribute on the whole time?

  • I had not considered that Davioware. Living in New Zealand puts these sorts of things a little beyond my reach. I think as a whole the content is worth a lot. But I don't see many people out there wanting every single scrap they have tucked away. And I certainly don't.

Add on top of that my awful other side of the world internet and the videos being locked away again after the subscription runs out...Not an attractive deal in the end.

  • You are looking for global variables chap. You can add them from the project management tab. They stay constant across layouts.

  • Hey chaps.

Any of you taken a look at the GDC vault? A lot of the talks from past GDC events are recorded and placed on this site. There is a portion that is free and sponsored, but the good stuff is locked away, seemingly only for attendees.

I have been looking at it for a while, REALLY want to see the talks on Uncharted, love the series, the director also directed my favourite series (Legacy of Kain), really really enjoy the detail they put into the game and like to hear the background info!

I noticed recently that for the first time ever they were going to be opening the VAULT up for individuals to subscribe(why has this taken so long?!?!) So I emailed in my interest and just recieved my beta invite to the subscription service.

I know it is a huge resource, with a lot of really wonderful information in it. But an individual subscription costs

    $395USD

    .

"the lowest figure we will ever make this subscription available for."

Looks like I will not get to see the Uncharted talks.

  • If you don't need it to colide with anything before it is set to solid you could do this

Set it the solid in the layout editor

Start of layout set it's collision mode to none

When PV=2 set the collision mode to per pixel/box etc

Not sure about how you are doing it at the moment, have not tried to do anything with adding atributes.

also have a look at if this would work

Set the atribute to solid in the layout editor

Start of layout change the atribute

PV=2 set the atribute to solid

Just incase there was some issue with assigning atributes at run time. Who knows, right.

Now Newt will reply underneath this and have all the information and the perfect solution for you!

  • Played Crysis 2 yet Lucid? The lighting is gorgeous.

  • How far off are they?

Have you tried using a negative value on the sprites size to reverse it?

  • Entirely posible. I have mine set up using text so I can shuffle levels around without breaking the connection.

    Possible errors are

Is there a keyboard object on your layout?

Is the event sheet connected to the layout?

I think the level 'numbers' are 0 index, so you may be using the wrong number.

Run the debug menu and check that the global variable is being set correctly. Set up another method of changing to the same level to test that is all working correctly.

  • I have tried and failed with this sort of thing also. A friend of mine made a little example for me yonks ago that I do not have anymore, but what he was doing was banking the timedelta value to a variable that was locked to whole numbers (abs() I think) and setting the movement off that variable.

    Something along those lines anyhow.

  • Could you take a screen shot of the block of code there? Maybe there is something there that will stand out.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Is this one unrelated to the other issue you were having here?

Either way, you have narrowed it down with your rebuilding. Hopefully you have not done too much more since then.

One by one remove eventsheets until you find which one(or multiples) that cause the error.

Then start at the latest events you have added and one by one toggle them off, running the cap each time until the error has been discovered.

I cannot open your cap as I do not have spritefont or magicam. Hopefully the generic debug idea I have listed will help you find where the error is.

Oh and make sure you are not using transitions.

  • Need more detailed information chap. Or a cap. So far I have, debug, click through messages, screen goes blank. Die, restart, screen is viewable. Which makes me think it is something at the start of the layout, and transitions cause random errors at 'start of'. But now you say it happens in the middle of the layout?

So, where and when is it happening, and how regularly? Every time at one place?

What is blank? White? Black? See through?

If your code is in groups or multiple event sheets, disable/remove one at a time and see if it still happens.

And no matter what you do, find out if you are using transitions and turn them off.

  • Are you using transitions?
