Any chance of getting on Skype?

I would love to speak with you more directly!

  • Hi guys

    The response to this is now overwhelming! I will try to address each of you;

Holy sh*t man. Just... ok, ffffffff.

I can already suggest that if you want to take the IDE, then I will not be arguing the point. That looks freaking awesome.

The art atyle I was hoping to go for a sort of retro look... not TOO pixelated, but nowhere near hi-def. I think about the size you have in the second demo for the character is a good size I think. The buildings would need to be scaled to match of course, and that should still allow for some amazing detail while still keeping the assets in a low budget term.

I really need to talk to you about this stuff. I just missed you in chat apparently... Hopefully I will catch you sometime soon. I have SKYPE now if that helps, you can add me: jeffrey.garrison79

We have already started! We are just sorting out the team first. It is important the we can all get on Skype or my Ventrilo server... and we can get the plan laid down. I need to talk to Quazi first, though.

So far the thing I need to fill the gap for the most is artists and sound engineers... Have you got any examples of your work that I can see? I'd love to check it out since your brief description of your capabilities sounds rather nice!

I hope this answers any major questions for the time being.

Any more interest for now will have to be unfortunately declined until we finalise our team and figure out what jobs still need to be covered. I would LOVE for everyone to be included in the primary team, but there simply won't be room for everyone. I am considering though, a dedicated team of suggestion makers, testers, and goto-guys for new ideas. Should this all go according to plan, you can count on some form of reward/compensation for participating!

Thank you guys for taking this seriously as well. I know that collaborations often fail before they even start, but I am personally at a point in my life where I really just need something like this to happen... so I will make it happen either way... win, lose or draw.

I had considered this already, and have not ruled it out at all... I was just trying to keep things "easy". If the team wants to go this way then I will adapt!

    QuaziGNRLnose

Wow, ok D: I won't say no? Sounds way more advanced than I had in mind... but who's going to argue? I guess I'd like to see it so I know what kind of art assets are required, and hopefully understand the engine a bit. :D

I will send "the ramble" to you via PM.

    ~Sol

  • Wow I had no idea you were doing this.

    Awesome stuff JayJay :D

  • I would try something like:

    + Hold mouse button down

    + Mouse is over object

-->Set private variable "is dragging" to 1

+Private variable "is dragging" equals 1

    --->Set object.X to Mouse.X

    --->Set object.y to Mouse.Y

+Hold mouse button down (negated so it's a NOT)

--->object set private variable "is dragging" 0

    That should work.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • MORE VRAM D:

Also, Construct is capable of making some pretty good looking games, as long as you spend the time making the graphics.

Like any language or game making utility, how good you make things is really limited by yourself. As long as you adhere to certain limitations (like newt has already mentioned), which is the same for any development platform anyway... then there is no reason why the next Metal Slug or whatever couldn't be made in Construct.

I believe that konjak, the author of Noitu Love and Noitu Love 2 had some good things to say about Construct HERE.

  • I like your drawings :D

I would recommend either using bone behaviour, or if you want something a little easier and probably better, you can check out Spriter. :)

    Hope this helps.

    ~Sol

  • What method are you currently using?

I may be able to help if I have a little more information about what you have already tried, as not to recover the same ground.

    ~Sol

  • Hi Nickydude and others :)

    Welcome to Scirra.

    ~Sol

  • Finally got around to taking a good look at this.

Pretty damn nice! It's difficult too, which is always a bonus :D

    ~Sol

  • yea here is a top down shooter zombie game:http://www.scirra.com/forum/zombie-gamefeedback-needed_topic43818.html

    Ah yes, I remember this!

That was pretty neat. I never got time to play it properly, but I shall give it a go again now (after I eat my lunch!).

Quazi, you bad boy. You're in, and you know it xD

Speaking of WHINE, I just played with that demo again literally a few hours ago... I was showing someone the kind of things that Construct can do, and that demo was the best thing I had ^^

I will probably have to limit participation from "applicants" if the topic gets any more attention... I think 3-5 people in a crew like this should be more than enough. :)

Quazi, we need to talkie :D

  • I guess when I refer to coding, I mean events. :)

Have you got any examples of your work by chance?

I'm heading to bed now (4:30AM here), but I will check back when I wake up ;)

    ~Sol

  • Dude i'm all for it. I've been wanting to do a colab for some time now.

Hi there, I do not believe we have met before.

So, can I ask relating to skills you might bring to the project? Are you an artist or do you prefer coding?

    ~Sol

  • Details regarding the project are conveyed mainly upon contact via PM :)

The project is a fairly serious one, but not too ambitious... very flexible, at that. There are intentions of a profit-share for anyone involved that can contribute in a meaningful manner. Details to be discussed.

I guess I don't really want a complete detailing available for all eyes. Chat room or PM basically allows me some form of knowing who knows, and the random whole world "stealing my idea". :P

I can message you more info if you are interested, or jump in chat :D

The thread was mainly meant to find any bored zombie lovers out there that might want to get in on something... the more of us, the better it will be, the more insane we can make it, and the more money we could all make.

If you don't think that my idea is complete rubbish, then I guess you come at it with a "nothing to lose" attitude... I mainly want a good, FUN game for zombie survival enthusiasts. All of them out there suck, and bad. The best one by far is probably Dead Frontier... and it's a Unity driven shooter with heavy survival element. It's boring though after even a few weeks of playing... not my idea of an "MMO zombie game" if it's all about the grind.

I want something a little more, gritty.
