  • Yeah ok that song was made of pure WIN.

Thanks a lot for that Drasa... I know deadeye already PM'd you so I'll wait to hear back from him in regards to the things he spoke to you about. That music will definitely be used, at this stage probably for the title screen, only because it doesn't loop or anything... but it's freakin' wicked. I was talking to a friend of mine onyla few days ago about the kind of music I wanted, and we started looking up the old "Shadow of the Beast" on youtube... and that was the kind of music I was looking for... and GUESS WHAT? OMG U STOLED MAI IDEEZ AN RAEP MAI BRAENZ WIFJOR FINGORZ OF ALL JOOR MENTL ARE BELONG TO US!!!1

  • I think halo 3 does it different. Like if you shoot at a player and hit them, you send a signal to the player saying ' I hit u lol' and they lose health

And if your shot kills them it sends a signal 'you died' and they fall over dead.

Gives people with lag an advantage though!

Halo sucks though... nuff said really xD

  • Zooming each layer is about the only way to do it... I had to do it like that with Chamber. The problem I am having is that the game runs by default in 4:3 ratio, and if I try to make it adjust the window size to something other than a 4:3 during runtime, it won't do it.

I am more than happy to post a cut down cap file of chamber if you guys want, so you can see how I did the resolution thing, but it only works in 4:3 aspects.

  • I'm checking it out now Drasa

    Downloading...

    Highimpact

Yeah I can see how you thought I meant otherwise with my comment. What I meant was more the pace of the game may not exactly be aimed at going "fast fast fast". There will be a little more timing and thought that will go into it, while at the same time the idea is to try and go as fast you can.

Damn this is taking forever to download... slow crappy interwebs at work.... will report back later.

  • Lol I never noticed the frame counter before because it was under my task bar hahaha.

Oh well, this time it didn't drop to below 30fps until I had like 150+ ships on my lappy. The map pretty much looked like a blue brick of dots. Even while flying it steadied at around 24fps.

  • Yeah, why not use real sprites and check for real collisions? Why even use an array for collision detection in the first place?

I would suggest it's a better way of coping with server lag. If the bullets are hitting the enemy on your screen, but it's lagging out, so really you are missing... it would be more accurate to use an array to control things maybe? I dunno... seems a bit over the top to me as well but it could work out more "fair" for online play.

  • I'm more concered with what is going on in your taskbar down there... either you are swirling out your open porn windows, or you have some seriously weird Windows issues. :/

  • > 32bit Windows still recognises 4gb of RAm, it just won't use it for Windows... though it does use it as a ram drive for other programs that are built to support extra memory

    >

No, you really can't use the last 500mb/1gb of RAM in a 32 bit system - the actual memory addresses are assigned to VRAM, other system devices, etc. so any physical RAM you install beyond this point will go completely unused.

Yeah it's a limitation of 32 bit architechture. When I said it uses it as a ram drive, I meant it will allocate it to things like virtual memory, vram, and system cache. It still "uses" it, but Windows doesn't "use" it.

Also, I have experienced lots of crashes with opening cap files on my big rig, but only when SLI is enabled. If I turn SLI off, it will open without a hitch. Weird.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I have to agree... I have already come across this with Chamber. I had to manually reverse all the frames and reinsert them for the opposing directions, because for some reason the auto mirror function didn't work properly, and mirroring each frame using the animation editor in Construct mangles the resolution of the images and made them look "chunky".

  • Just trying to read this thread hurts my brain so bad... I would be of no help at all I don't think, especially if Deadeye and Davo can't figure it out. :S

I feel bad for you though, since the idea sounds wicked... good luck though bro.

  • OK so how the shit do you guys even think of this kind of stuff? It makes me love you and hate you at the same time O.o

I could never even imagine doing something like this in a million years.
