  • Hi!

I'm gonna make a simple game on Android.

I'd like to include some virality features, like share by SMS/mail/twitter in Flappy Bird (screenshot taken on iPhone but know what I mean).

Is there a way to call that kind of "native share functions" (?) in C2?

    Thanks for you help!

  • Hey Matt,

What kind of games are you looking for? Which level of quality or content? Can you provide some examples of games FGL has paid for?

I don't want to develop a game for weeks and finally earn 100-200$... but I can quickly make something graphically really appealing to go with a simple gameplay.

  • Awesome, I'll take a look at it! Thank you!!!

  • Hi!

I considered it simple but... it doesn't work

I'd like to fill this array with "unique" values only, after having checked that the values in question have not been entered before.

What have I done wrong? Le While loop doesn't seem to be taken into account... It may not be used properly

    Thanks for your help!!

  • I agree.

C2 is an amazing game making tool, but if someday Scirra wants to reach the upper division (helped by a bunch of fun, polished AND profitable games), then users should be able to easily and seamlessly implement monetization in their games.

  • Where can we play your published games? (http://pixolpallete.blogspot.fr/ doesn't seem to work)

Just to have an idea of the required level of quality.

  • Thanks!

What level of quality should I reach? For 200$, I'd make many small games with decent graphics...

Did someone here submit a game to FGL?

  • Hi all!

One year ago, I developed this game : http://bigbangbattle.clay.io. I had no other objective than making a fun arcade game to play with friends. Now I really want to get back to C2 (really cool tool for designers) but even though I don't expected to make a living with my games in the short term, I'd like to make it a "worthy" effort... (just a little bit)

Is there threads, websites or anything explaining where and how to monetize a game made with C2?

What would you recommend in term of platform and monetization if I wanted to make simple but still fun and polished games?

    Platforms

    Mobile apps ("native")

    HTML5 portals

    Desktop

    etc.

    Monetization

    Selling games?

    Monetizing with in-app purchases?

    Ads?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Thank you both for your answers! Silverforce, I'll give your game a try!

My initial objective is to make something clean, simple with enjoyable graphics, so I can avoid WebGL shaders and remain below the physics limitation.

I've learn a lot with Big Bang Battle, many mistakes I won't make this time (and so many new mistakes to make, I suppose)

  • Making the game would be the easy part?

I'm not sure to realize how easy/hard it is, but you confirm that's possible... Better than nothing.

    Thanks!

  • Hi all!

One year ago, I left construct 2. I've really enjoyed this game making software and developed a demo, available there:

    http://www.manaforge.net/bigbangbattle/

(hope it'll work properly, I remember problems occuring in certain circumstances...)

Now I'd like to develop something on mobile platforms, but... I'm wondering:

Is it possible to create a mobile native app with construct 2? Something fluid and nice created through a well-known and reliable process? In other words, can I develop a game and have it on the AppStore and/or the google playstore? And eventually monetize it? (in-app, ads etc.)

Are there some technically decent OS/Android games developed with Construct 2 ?

There are a lot of interesting tools and languages, but I'd really like to use C2 to achieve my goals. That's why I prefer to make sure I have all the required weapons to win my personal war

    Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks for your feedback! (all of you)

jogosgratispro: it could be an option... later! :) (but you're not the first person to tell me that)

Zero6: you're right, the gameplay isn't the same as Windjammers! This (fabulous) game was a reference (for veteran gamers) in term of "context" (1vs1 arena, arcade sport game), but as mentioned in the title/message, the gameplay is more like... an "improved Pong/Breakout". Once you know that, and with more experience, it makes sense and you can move and aim really accurately. I think the game is much harder to master than it seems.

I'll publish a gameplay footage soon to show what an experienced player (me ^^) can do. And I hope future players will be waaaay better than me, seeing them play would be a big show!

Actually, I didn't want to make a Windjammers clone (since I wanted to add some specific features like 2vs2 battles), but you're right (again), the game can be improved!

PS: I just realize I didn't mention Pong and Breakout in the title... Edited!

  • <font size="2"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hi all!

I've posted this preview several weeks ago on this forum, but it's *official* now. And since the html5 demo has been developed with C2, I think it can be shared there :)

    So...

Here is the project my team is currently working on: BIG BANG BATTLE!

    <center><img src="http://www.bigbangbattle.com/screenshots/00.jpg" border="0"></center>

    <center><font size="5">http://www.bigbangbattle.com/</font>

(optimized for Google Chrome but should be ok with Firefox)</center>

    <center><img src="http://www.bigbangbattle.com/screenshots/01.jpg" border="0"></center>

Big Bang Battle is a cross between Pong/Breakout and Windjammers, born from our intense desire to play a multiplayer arcade game "with friends like old times! right now!". Since we didn't find what we were looking for, we decided to create it... and even though the current game content is limited, we have serious fun playing against each others.

    <center><img src="http://www.bigbangbattle.com/screenshots/02.jpg" border="0"></center>

This short preview has been developed by 2 people pretty quickly (we are 3 now!). Some elements may be temporary, but the global experience is closed to what we'd like to create. That's why we thought it would be cool to share this version beyond our personal circles in order to get feedback, questions or cheers, from casual to veteran gamers. Please share your opinion (good or bad), it will help us confirm what's great and what has to be improved.

    <center><img src="http://www.bigbangbattle.com/screenshots/04.jpg" border="0"></center>

The "real game" is under development and will be released in June 2013 on Windows/Mac/Linux and Ouya. It should allow 4 players max to play on the same screen (2vs2), with many characters/powers/arenas. Online multiplayer may be available on PC/Mac/Linux, depending on several factors... And gamepads will be supported on all platforms, of course.

    <center><img src="http://www.bigbangbattle.com/screenshots/03.jpg" border="0"></center>

As I said, we really wait for feedback, so feel free to share your thoughts on this topic or facebook/twitter. In both cases, it should be ok.

Well, we hope you'll enjoy Big Bang Battle, I'd recommend to play in versus mode if you can (since arcade games are always more fun with friends) et wish you a good time <img src="smileys/smiley41.gif" border="0" align="middle">

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for your feedback :)

Yeah good work, really nice graphics and fun game - do you not think C2 is able to make the game post-prototype?

    I don't think so.

    • Most of the exporters aren't reliable enough, for the moment.
    • Same thing for the multiplayer aspect.
    • I'm not supposed to be the team's official developer. The developer I'll work with wouldn't like to use C2, he doesn't know it and wants to "master" the project (technically speaking) more than I do with C2.

Actually, it was just a gameplay and graphics demo :) I'm satisfied but personnaly I don't think I can do much more than that.

C2 will probably do more one day but as a game designer, I currently see it as a perfect prototyping tool. It's still great.

  • Hi all!

I'm a game designer and with a friend (2D artist), I've used Construct 2 to develop a short demo of my new project.

    <img src="https://dl.dropbox.com/u/39121175/BigBangBattleDemo/bigbangbattledemo.png" border="0">

Here is the playable demo: http://tinyurl.com/axwv8ll

With this demo, I've found a talented and passionate developer who'd really like to build an online multiplayer version on several platforms. From now on, we'll develop this project at a professional level but I'd like to thank Construct 2 to have helped me build something fun, something I could be proud of, something I could show to people I know, play with them and feel they enjoyed it. Thanks to the C2 community to have provided help when it was needed.

However, I'll probably continue using C2 as a very efficient prototyping tool!

    Few last things before leaving:

    • the demo is optimized for Google Chrome, it should work on other browsers but the result can be slightly different... 'know what I mean.
    • find a friend/family member and enjoy the versus mode, it's twice as fun!
    • I'll probably delete the online demo in 1-2 weeks.

Feel free to give your feedback!

    Bye!
