  • I will call myself an "amateur viewer", regarding the movie 2001, for having seen this movie only once. Today.

    I didn't read about the movie before viewing, to avoid spoilers.

    At the end I found the movie is more abstract in expressing its ideas/thoughts than most movies I have seen.

    Object[Bullet].Travelled contains how far it's gone.

    Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

    Although one question arised quickly:

    1 object is making distance (bullet behaviour).

    After every set distance, carry out an action (for example, change direction).

    Object[Bullet].Travelled > 50

    Set angle to Object.Angle - 40

    Result: keeps spinning.

    I thought, that's logical, since the angle is changed, but it's still making distance, so it stays above 50.

    But if I change the "> 50" to "= 50", nothing happens.

    Is that normal?

  • 2 questions about an object with Bullet Behaviour:

    • in debug-mode the amount of pixels traveled can be seen. Can I use this information in events?

    (For example: after traveling 200 pixels, set speed to 20)

    • is there a known bug with exceeding range?

    It completely ignores the "on exceeding range"-event.

    Am I doing this wrong?

    (1 condition, 2 actions)

    Sprite A: On collision with Sprite B

    Sprite A: set bullet range to 210

    Sprite A: 'private variable' to 1

    (2 conditions, 1 action)

    Sprite A: 'private variable' equal to 1

    On exceeded range

    > Sprite A: set speed to 2

    Yes, and as Ashley said, charging money will also generate more work and responsibilites.

    While in theory we could go commercial, we face the same problems as above (overcoming the freely available branch) as well as being obliged to provide customer support, regular updates, put up with pissed off users who want their particular bug fixed, etc etc etc. So right now we haven't got any plans to go commercial ever. Free for now!

    And in case you missed it, he also said:

    As I said before, we have no plans to sell any version of Construct, and intend to continue giving it away for free.

    Side note:

    Actually this thread's intention was not about the price of Construct, but what the developers have planned, for now.

    These 2 subjects come very close though and I can see that others, like me, are also interested/concerned by that other sub topic (price of construct).

  • If I would want to unhide and hide a sprite for, say, 2 seconds, what would be the most efficient way to do this in Construct?

    All I can think of is making a counter, which counts down:

    Counting? (still) show sprite.

    Stopped counting? hide sprite.

    What is your suggestion?

  • The current aim of Construct is to establish it as a serious game creation tool used by as many professionals as possible. The best way to get it used is for it to be free .

    I believe that is one of the reasons why Microsoft also offers tools for free: to get people use Microsoft products and keep using Microsoft products.

    I'm much more concerned about the free = developers don't make any money = can't keep up development issue.

    Hobby project.

  • Does the length of Event Sheets have a big impact on the performance of Constructs or the game that will be exported?

    Should I limit the Event Sheet length and create more different Event Sheets?

    Or doesn't it really matter?
