  • Edit to add: with a release date of 29 July I am not so sure this will be fixed in time...

Yeah I have just put 8.1 back on (running a SSD and don't have enough room to run both side-by-side).

EDIT: started the install after posting the above browser info!

Just don't have enough time to keep farting around with lots of niggly issues that are there atm. (some have been around since the second build was released and still aren't fixed.)

Overall I quite like it, and will definitely buy a copy when released, but definitely won't sacrifice my 8.1 key on the free upgrade MS is offering.

With W10 going public end of July they sure have their work cut out for them! I suspect service pack1 will be hot on its heels!!

  • I hope Microsoft do a better job of audio support in W10 than the complete lack of audio features currently in IE11. Maybe they'll ship W10 with Chrome .

Just been playing around in Win10 10130.

    Spartan:

C2 projects fail to load - blank screen.

Also Spartan will not go full screen -at least I cant find anywhere to tell it to.

    IE:

    Loads fine, runs fine.

Audio don't know if it has improved or not.

The taskbar always shows - even when going full screen.

    Firefox:

Loads fine. 60 fps constant. Visible jerkiness constant.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Hi, I think you have to install 32 version as well.

  • Yeah, this issue has been around for ages - would be nice to see it fixed.

  • So I suppose it will have to wait till Tom gets back to resolve the issue.

In the mean time shall we name our new spam buddy? I vote for something simple like Carl. All in favor?

When the scirra office closes for the day the forum should change to a darker appearance with the message

"What a horrible night to have a curse..."

Bonus if they can get this music playing in the background.

Yeah, Carl sounds great. Why don't we try and monetize it? We could all band together and make a game, call it say, 'attack of the carls'.

  • Back on topic

I've actually made my own templates. Just open a new project and set all settings the way I want them to be for iOs, Android, PC and then saved them as "iOs Portrait Template", "Android Lanscape Template" etc.

Really nice to have when you start a new project so you don't have to remember every setting that worked so nicely on the other projects

Yeah I do the same, and also change all the icons to my own as well.

  • Scirra is working to fix all issues as soon as possible.

They are looking into the subscription issue as well as getting rid of the spam waves once and for all.

In the meantime, sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience.

Thanks for the update. By the way, I didn't mean to sound so blunt in my last post, I was in a bit of a rush to get out the door for a meeting. I am sure Scirra are working on it, and it is certainly not them at fault.

What I don't get is that the spam is totally useless, like no links, no adverts, just rubbish.... it's a wonder they even know how to use a keyboard...

  • For people having issues with the mailing spam due to newly tutorials being posted, please consider temporarily unsubscribing and check newer tutorials manually until we get the spamming issue fully resolved.

    Thanks.

Unsubscribing doesn't work, even turning off all notifications in my account doesn't stop the spam mail coming.

In additions to that every time I try to open any forum it takes like 60 seconds or more to load, even just going to the next page in a topic takes forever to load.

    This site is becoming unusable.

  • Yeah been getting weird things happening in IE also, audio that worked fine before now just stopping randomly, but good luck pinning it down for a bug report.

  • billy Bleeks, Hi, I am sure you have, but just in case check the image point is centre.

  • Well the whole site has been spmmed big time today.

I think it is time to have a human authorize new accounts rather than automatically.

  • yeah the problem is people see '2d game' and immediately think it should run on a potato. Sigh...

Hehe, yeah and these days it should too!!

I tried your demo game and it runs at a solid 60fps full screen (1920×1080 res) on the machine I mentioned in previous post.

  • Hi all, I have been following this thread but until now have not performed the tests - finally got around to it today, here are my results.

    Before dropping below 60fps:

    C2 WebGL:

      about 24000 objects

    C2 Canvas2D:

      about 4000 objects

    Pixi.js:

      about 18000 objects

    All tests at 1920x1080 res.

Edit: Window size seams to make no difference.

    Test machine specs:

    Intel i3-4160 CPU 3.20GHz

    8 GB RAM

    GeForce GTX 750

    Win 8.1

  • thegrind,

"Do you think this is a browser problem or C2 problem?"

Well, yeah, but more specifically a browser developer problem. As colludium said you will get different result on different browsers. Browser developers never have and never will use/conform to standards that work towards uniformaty of the web.

The only solution unfortunately is spritefont.

  • Ashley, Thanks for your input:

A serious game can take years to design, develop and release, and we would basically have to put Construct development entirely on hold during that time. I don't think anybody really wants that.

Indeed and I do not want you to do that either. That is why I said for you just to oversee such a project.

Despite what you may think I am listening and do pay attention to everyone's concerns here. It's just there's not always a lot we can do.

Please be assured that I do not think you don't care or pay attention. And I appreciate that much of these issues are out of your control.

And while the fact that these things being out of your control is the reason many are calling for native export options, I appreciate that that also will not happen.

This is why I feel that a game released by Scirra themselves would just help boost confidence in this awesome engine. It doesn't have to be huge - even just Space Blaster with a few more levels and polished up with all the appropriate start screens etc, and actually published would surely go a long way to boosting confidence.

    Just for the record:

I for one will keep using C2 and will support C3 despite what Scirra does in this regard. Like many others I think you have created an awesome product. I am not 100% comfortable with the likes of Google being it's biggest drawback for many users, but I will just keep targeting Windows Store as that seams to work fine, especially on Windows 10.

Anyway thanks for great product and taking the time to give feed back on this thread (and others).
