Lost my Keys's Forum Posts

  • There's a date object you can use for this sort of thing.

  • Could try grouping things separately and toggling them on/off?

  • No offense, but how is this a Construct tutorial? Sorry if I'm mistaking the purpose of this.

It's not a construct tutorial, but as we lack any specific art section, it went here instead. It's more of a useful study of anatomy for people drawing. While it's 3D based, it does help a lot with 2D as well, so still is useful.

  • I can see both sides. I can see how it would be useful, but also how it would be frustrating, depending on what the user is doing at the time, and turning an option on/off for it would probably be one of those easily forgotten options.

  • Lost my Keys - How did you get Harbringer of Doom? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Because I'm spechul.

  • I would like to talk about music . What music will we use in the video? What genre? May be you know site where we could find and download music for noncommercial use (licensed under Creative Commons Attribution or Attribution Non-Commercial, but not Share-Alike)?

If we don't find anything suitable, I can try to write music.

I think something classical/instrumental is a must. Nothing too loud, no rap, rnb, heavy metal etc. and certainly no pop songs. Those would often be binned instantly when people used to send in demo reels at companies I worked at, and they generally get a negative reaction. But something instrumental I think would work.. unless it's requiem for a dream, cause everyone uses that lol. There's a few I can think of that work well for showreels etc. but they're all copyright so no use to us. Since youtube would take the audio off knowing them heh.

Something custom would be fun, there's a few musicians on the forum (but they tend to like remaining hidden for some reason), would be nice if they could get involved in some way?

But useful for 2D work too, especially the shapes etc. If you like it, buy his book!

  • A little bump love for the fan page, lets get construct noticed more!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

    >

Do you think we need to use the intro at the start?

I had a idea: video begins with that we run the program and begin to make a game. It's quickly created (within 5-10 sec) and we are starting to play it. This moment shows how easy is to make games with Construct. Then after the first game we see a demonstration of other games, and at the end we show the viewer what it's a program (run the cog intro). Also we can insert words on a black screen between the clips, for example: "Create your world with Construct" , etc.

    What do you think?

Yep I think an intro at the start would look good, very grand looking.

I like the idea of showing quickly how easy it is to make a game too. I think it'll surprise a lot of people at just how simple it really can be, and it was certainly one of the things I didn't quite believe when I first heard of construct. So it'll be good to show people for real. But not Ghost Shooter k? LOL.

I like the ideas though, I think it's gonna end up looking great. Showing both simple games and complex ones, so people who see it can see it's not limited to just basic things.

  • You have earned the title: "Mr. Poll"

LMAO! Nooooooooooo! I want to be the Harbringer of Doom again *cries*, I was having good luck as the Harbringer, and I'm very superstitious!

  • Choose from the poll above. Could be useful for new users, to see where there's too many games vs niche area's. Only 10 options allowed, so possibly missed a few.

You can pick more than one genre, since some games could incorporate different ones.

  • > Though I honestly think there wont be an issue for users to view it on youtube, since a 720p video on there will have a number of lower versions to watch, and nobody should have any trouble viewing it in the lowest setting if they have a slow connection (depending on their settings, it may pick the smallest resolution for them, or highest if they can watch better).

and this one explains what I was saying before, how youtube will add black bars to 4:3

Okay, we'll make in 720p. What background will be in 4:3 games? Or there is no background, only black bars?

You could try both, black pillar box bars, or some plasma like effect in them to frame the 4:3 video, unless that ends up distracting too much from the clips (or maybe a variation of your cog intro?). Or maybe add various construct related slogans.

But definitely use your cog intro for the start of the video, because that would fit perfectly!

  • Yeah, can't see why it would be useful either. If you absolutely must have different hotspots between the collision and the sprite, you could use containers and invisible collision objects, and give those different hotspots.

  • > Hey! How's things over there now?

    >

Nuts. I just came back from a bbq on the street and military personnel showed up and we had to go home.

We have a curfew to avoid looting (those were two scary days). I came back home, I'm in ground zero now. Light's back, got network, only water is missing. Water trucks go by guarded by military personnel and I saw a supplies truck earlier today. We're good. Govt is encouraging people to get back to work so things get back to normal. We have a few tremors a day (4 to 5), each at 5 to 6 Richter. People are jumpy but optimistic.

    Thanks for asking =)

Wow that's bad, glad things are getting better though, welcome back!

(sorry for derailing the thread btw)

  • 4:3, but i couldnt vote because all the polls on this forum give me this error:

The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.

    Anyone know what causes this?

Hmm don't know, try again later maybe. Not sure why it would be doing that unless you have noscript or something running?
