  • That's a Chocobo, so it should be more like Wark!.

    I know.

I purposely went for a Chocobo (check the pic URL) because they're so cute, and I like that style of art.

I know what you mean about the "Wark!" in the earlier versions of FF, but the baby Chocobo in the new FFXIII definitely tweets.

Still don't know what he's doing in that blokes Afro though, and whether he has any part to play in the story (no spoilers please).

  • There doesn't seem to be an option in the poll for "No, I've never been sad and never wanted to be a sheep!"

It's a no from me for all social networking groups.

Leave it to the 12 year olds, because beyond that, you really should have grown out of it.

    Sad times.

  • I think a high score plugin would be useful.

Not all games require a high score table, but some do.

Just like some games don't require an achievement feature, but it somehow gets shoe-horned in and ruins the game (with trivial achievements like Mipey mentioned).

Those that don't want a high score table in their game, don't plug it in!

The plugin would have to be very customisable though.

If you can't get it to look and operate the way you want it to, you may as well write your own.

  • Just want to say how great this behaviour is.

I've only just found out that a new version was available, and I can't believe how much you improved it since the last version I downloaded (which was probably the first version).

    Excellent work Rojo.

    A 1001 thanks!

    And I agree.

This should be part of Construct.

  • I checked for duplicate versions but that wasn't it.

It turns out I didn't have the latest version of the Path Movement behaviour, which I'm sure I checked when I first tried to run this.

    A great new version too!

    Thanks,

    Krush.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Thought I'd give this another try in the latest build, but same error.

Newt, are you using any plugins that may not be installed on my machine?

Can't see why it won't work.

Lost, did you get it to work after?

  • Lol, heightfield/heightmap.

I did search for heightfield, which is what Madster called it in his post, but didn't think to look for heightmap (it was gone 1:30am )

    Thanks.

I'll have some fun with this later on this afternoon.

  • I've just been reading some old threads, trying to catch up on anything I miss on my regular, short breaks, and I've been playing Madster's Asteroids (NICE!).

You mention your Heightfield Plus effect, and that its in the completed addons section.

I wanted to have a play around with it, but I can't find it anywhere.

Was it released, or did you think you'd released it?

  • Really like the look of this game.

The only thing I'm not fussed on is the camera hopping rather than the character.

I can imagine that I'd only want to play it in short bursts for fear of my head exploding.

I think I'd prefer the camera to be stable rather than following the main character religiously.

Looking forward to seeing this game progress.

  • Reminds me of one of my favourite Harry Enfield sketches, where an interviewer asks a band member why he's got the word "Individual" tattooed on his forehead.

"Cos all my mates got one, innit."

  • There's something amiss either in construct or certain plugins.

I'm not sure if that's what's causing your problems, but I've had trouble running caps and exes regardless of which version of construct I am using.

For instance, the Advanced Camera plugin doesn't work on one of the supplied demos, but it does on the other, and both work for most people.

There's another example of it in a thread I posted in recently where a couple of people couldn't run the demo, but everyone else could!?!

It's not a shader issue on my machine either, because my card supports up to PS 4.0.

  • Hehe, I wrote the same thing for the railway simulator Trainz about 5 years ago now.

Sprites are the way to go, because you don't need more than a couple dozen of them hitting the screen at once to get a realistic effect.

    http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1536/weatherwe.jpg

I simply took the resolution of the screen that the user was running the game in, took a random position from that width and height, and placed a nice semi-transparent blob of rain on the screen, making it slide down the screen and fade out as it went.

The timing between each initial creation is up to you (can't remember exactly how I decided to do it, but it was probably every half second), and once you have your maximum number of raindrops, just keep checking the number of objects every half second, and create a new one every time the number drops below your maximum.

The old drops are destroyed when they've completely faded out, which makes room for each new one to be created.

  • Then I guess I'll be on my way over to Stencyl... there is no way I'd ever join Facebook.

    Ditto.

Social Networking Sites are a slippery slope that I'll never go near. lol.

If I was a kid maybe, but even then, it would probably seem a little too sad.

  • Crashes temp.exe here every time too, on 99.83
