    Having tested on my various monitors, I came to the conclusion that for a video game, the stretching wasn't as bad as I'd imagined it would be (although some genres may look worse than others).

    That was the thread that LMK had a moment if you remember. lol.

    I agree with you on the point about TV programs or movies though.

    It's so easy to notice when people are stretched on the screen.

    I thought Peter Crouch was only 5'4" until I got the aspect ratio right.

  • Hey Drule, you should update your Advanced Camera once again to version 0.92b if you didn't already. There are margin settings for the follow action which could help with your problem.

    When was version 0.92b released?

    I can't seem to find it anywhere here.

  • No problems on any of my 3 Xbox360 controllers.

    I've not tested it extensively on any Construct program (although they have been used a fair amount in them), but I've been using them with various PC games and emulators for more than a year and I've had no problems whatsoever.

    Based on that, it sounds to me like the problem lies with the plugin, or its use.

    I think you need to read the thread in the proper forum area in full first.

    The solution I have posted here is the result of what was written and read there, and I decided that widescreen (whether 16:9, 16:10 or any other variant) was not worth catering for directly.

    I have a 32" widescreen HDTV (16:9) for my main computer, and IMO a 1024x768 game stretched to it's extents looks fine on it.

    On my laptop (not widescreen) it obviously looks fine, and on another computer of mine I have an 22" Widescreen monitor (16:10) and even that looks fine stretched.

    My solution is for those who don't think widescreen requires special treatment, like myself.

    As I said, you need to read the proper thread in full to see why I came to this conclusion, and to see other people's solutions to catering for widescreen, and to discuss it further if need be.

    Canvas hates me (as we once again found out with the "putting part of a sprite onto canvas" example), so you're definitely the man for the job.

  • I used Canvas for one of my projects. Just use a solid sprite for background (semi-transparent for the nice effect), a canvas on top of it and draw whatever you want on it. Hell, you can draw more detail, too.

    Now that sounds like a tutorial worth doing.

    I'm sure that a lot of people would find that useful.

    At least until we get an updated minimap.

  • Sounds to me like it's not Construct at fault, and that it's something that's running in the background.

    What apps do you have running from startup?

    It looks like something else running on your system has a memory leak.

    If you have ICQ, MSN or any other nonsense running, shut them all down and try construct again.

    Shut down everything that can be safely shut down without interfering with Windows, and by a process of elimination you should be able to pinpoint the problem.

    It could also be a virus.

    How's your system set up for protection against viruses and trojans (Firewall and AV software)?

    I really like the ability to loop back and forth or reset, and the cosine interpolation.

    How many people will be using both those features to make their "collectables" pulsate.

    I haven't found any problems yet, but I've only just started playing with it.

    Who says we don't need shortcuts like these?

    Regardless of whether it's easy enough to do with events, this is exactly what Construct is all about.

  • Maybe some sort of slight ease in/ease out for the curves to compensate.

    If the rate of ease in/ease out was linked to the severity of the curve, I think it would work quite well.

    - acceleration/deceleration at waypoints (based on sharpness of the corner, basically the angle difference, if it is straight - 180 degrees - don't decelerate at all, etc.)
