  • I totally agree with tulamide!

I remember ages back when I first sent my game to someone after knowingly getting full 60fps in Chrome and not much going on in the game, and they ended up getting like 15fps in Chrome (their machine could get 30fps out of a game like Left4Dead and 50-60fps out of Terraria).

I was so sad, til I realised that shrinking Chrome's window size boosted the framerate (it had to be shrunk so the game was like 320x300 to get 60fps lol), which was weird since Terraria runs nicely on their machine at 1360x768.

But yeah I open my project on Chrome these days on my mid-range computer and get 60fps, but sometimes get SFX not playing, whereas I load it on Firefox, and I get choppy 20fps for some reason, but the music and SFX play fine... I don't even know why lol. I do like how there's no incompatibility at ALL with how things display as far as I'm aware (I think the HSL shader was being weird depending on browser but I think that got sorted out), so sprites and the actual events run great on each browser. Lol but when it comes to wrappers, you realise the Button object don't work, some physics functions aren't working (I'm looking at you CocoonJS <img src="smileys/smiley22.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> ).

I'm not super involved with the mechanics of how HTML5 works and whatnot, but I'll give my opinion anyway:

HTML5 is young, but it's rapidly developing. Seems that all browsers adopted it, all the new consoles are adopting it, heck, Unreal even supports it like Kyatric posted. All I'm going to do, is wait patiently...

*1 year later, HTML6 comes out, not compatible with HTML5*

    Damnit!

  • Happy birthday! True dedication seeing as you work and release R144 on your birthday. <img src="smileys/smiley16.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Yeah that's happened here too, trying to make a new capx recreating it but it seems to work in a new capx lol

  • Awesome!

  • Just out of curiosity, what's with the hate towards windows? I have never had problems with windows since like Windows 98,XP,Vista(It was slow but wasn't unreliable),7.

  • May as well ask real quick: Is there a way to turn off VSync in Node-Webkit? :P

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Assuming you're talking about exporting with Node-Webkit:

Construct 2 has just been updated with a bunch of features to move the window position around, so you can realign to the center now I guess :P

  • You do not have permission to view this post

  • I've been hard at work to enter it!

It's worrying that we can't test with actual hardware and rely on the "Web simulator", as I'm not sure if the Web Simulator emulates the hardware at all, meaning we could be getting perfect performance on the simulator, but on the actual hardware, it may lag badly or perform differently.

How about you, sosensible , you entering it? Any screenshots or media to share?

I'll post a video about mine when I get it to a better standard!

  • I totally understand what you mean. Though I think they use C2 just for the "2D games design" part. They have other stuff installed like 3ds max, Unreal dev kit, ect. I guess they understood how fast and efficient C2 develops for 2D :P

  • So yeah, first day at Nescot College (I was in another course in the same college but now doing Level 3 Games Design) and flicking through the assignment stuff, I see this:

    <img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7765312/construct2hooray.png" border="0" />

I asked my new peers about last year and they mentioned how they all had to use C2 for their assignment aswell!

Was pretty awesome to see, considering I was flicking through the installed software on their systems and I only found Gamemaker, and also considering I've been using C2 for quite some time now and have gained a lot of experience with it and even have a license for it! I'm gonna breeze this part of the course for sure! <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    EDIT: Fixed IMG link lulz

EDIT2: Upon clicking the link in that section for the Construct 2 download, it opens a page containing a link to the r95 installer, with a warning saying "If you download a later version than this, you will NOT be able to open that project in college!". Very outdated <img src="smileys/smiley3.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Awesome stuff, guys!

  • I remember having the same problem, buddy. I found out it was because I had clicked "Save" when I had no diskspace in C:/. It doesn't warn that it hasn't saved correctly or anything when I had low space remaining :( .

I wonder if you had same problem with lack of diskspace?

  • Yeah the search is already there, it's just in the ribbon. If you're like me, you keep the ribbon hidden. You can fiddle around to get that search bar into the toolbar at the top-left so you don't need the ribbon visible. :P

Can't remember who explained it on this forums, but whomever it was, thanks!

  • I needed this actually too :P
