Template for a basketball game with a 3D aspect (illusion of 3D)

im in the same situation my friend side scrolling shooter>blender>png>illusion of 3d

+ (1+n^(n+1)) for the kickstarter idea..

: For animations check out Spriter before requiring 3D, it might be more interesting for your needs in the end.

Also for those thinking C2 is only a tool for non-programmers, I have to disagree.

I knew how to code before discovering CC/C2 and using both even allowed me to go further on that road. I've always considered having this background helped me getting "faster" into Construct.

And I've always considered that C2 helps on getting the game programming's logic.

And to finish on the topic of 3D, Ashley already answered in page 1 and that's all what is needed to be considered for now.

Thank you a lot for your support.

Kyatric i respect you of your help and your knoweledge.you help us a lot with your work (tutorials,posts,examples...) but i dont say that C2 is ONLY a tool for non coders?where you read that? I said that most of us bought c2 cause is for non coders

Ashley back in 2011 replied to another post: "Obviously if you know how to program you're going to criticise the event system. Remember we're targeting at non-coders." !!NON CODERS!!

this is the big advantage of C2. game engine built for non-coders.

i like to be realistic and also tell the truth even if its bitter.if i knew programming i will not even make this conversation.i'll be somewhere else. Its not bad if we continue posting to the thread after ashley answered in the first page.sometimes when you want something so bad its logic to keep asking even if you know that its difficult to change a situation.but if you continue asking maybe your pressure will take place. If you guys think that its a waste of time when we talking about our needs ok really it makes me sad.Maybe im in the wrong place from the start.

everytime we ask for native applications: answer:if you have issues contact with ludei

everytime we ask for 3d answer(not from scirra this time):its a 2d engine its difficult, it will kill 2d engine,we dont care about 3d, blah blah blah...

Kickstarter is here take the decision and we will support you. if you dont get the goal, ok ill never mention 3d again in the forum.but i doubt about that it will kick(as)starter the game development.

fawdda you got all of my support my friend but i dont see 3d in c2 for 2 years from now...

Kyatric yeah I know Spriter it's just a 2D animation tool! and knowing how to code doesn't mean we should do the same!

Ashley said "We probably won't support this until WebGL is ubiquitous" but the good news that WebGL is ubiquitous enough to adopt it in C2!

spy84 you know what you remind of Guns N' Roses song, it's called Patience. Thank you a lot for your clear opinion my friend.

    spy84: I expressed myself wrongly I guess.

Instead of "only" I meant mostly, and I'm just saying that either you're a coder or not, there are advantages in using Construct2. It sure lowers the entry barrier for non-coders, but it is still a major tools that even "true coders" can appreciate.

And it's not because you keep asking for something that Scirra isn't capable of delivering as a small startup that it will happen.

Coding is a thing, knowing the business side of things is another.

Knowing when a demand is unrealistic is important too.

: The statement about coding wasn't directly directed at you but more a general reply. Also I bet you could do pretty much all you would do with a "3D object" through Spriter and it's already supported by Construct2. Coding has nothing to see with that issue.

General: Ashley already gave his answer about the 3D request. It's not for now, so yeah, patience. There are more important things to bring to C2 first (for example finishing the debugger feature he has started) than rushing into something huge like "3D support" (which indeed probably would be a full new software with possibly years of design and development before being viable).

You can discuss the matter for 30 pages, it won't change that simple fact.

I'm a professional software developer, and have been doing it for over 25+ years. So no, I wouldn't say C2 is only for non-coders. of course I wish it had an option to include code sometimes because it'd be quicker, develomentally, sometimes. But I really enjoy using C2. I used GameMaker Studio for a while, and was actually preferring it over C2 for a short while, but it's code is spread out in so many different places, trying to keep it organized became more of a hassle than it was worh.

I think having a background in coding could be quite beneficial even in using C2 because the logic is the same, just implemented a bit differently.

Kyatric wizaerd I totally agree with you about the benefits of having a background in coding.

I hope in the future C2 will be the main pipline for the indie game developers.

Personaly id preffer online multiplayer feature before going for something like 3D but if this ever gets on kickstarter and has paypal funds available then ill save up lots of cash for this :D

I fail to see how throwing money at it will help, its still just one guy doing the code, and C2 is his thing. I seriously doubt he would like to hand the keys over and say have at it.

Besides 2d isn't dead, in fact multi-image animation with Spriter is in its infancy, and the possibilities there are immense.

    <img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7765312/orncc.jpg" border="0" />

But seriously, 3D isn't bad, I could see it happening (like how Adobe Photoshop managed to warp their editor around to allow 3D objects to be imported, that shows that any "primarily 2D" software can work with 3D), but I don't really think I'd use it at all, at least now. I'm not sure why I feel this way, though. I'd like to say it's because "I hate how 2D gets pushed away and 3D is more popular, 2D is still relevant!", but I feel that's a naive reason...

Also, AFAIK, there's a whole bunch of 2D "Event based" editors like C2, MMF...but never for 3D... Maybe that's because companies perhaps tried to make it but hit a brickwall at some point and therefore gave up? Just a thought...

oh if C2 manage 3D with event system... a dream for an artist eventcoder ...

here my experiments with Coopercube, WEBGL exported.

please Ashley look for this request with caress...

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Jase you wrote : i am the only here who doesnt care about 3d in C2? with an epic photo.

    Also someone maybe says "

i am the only one here who doesnt care about news?or sports?

    or movies?

ok so let tv stations show only commercials..."

ok its funny but it doesnt mean something.cause some of us care. with 3d we can do also 2.5d more easily.imagine the possibilities..im not whining cause ive got nothing else to do.i love the platform with the highs and the lows and i want to be better in every perspective.

    newt

And as for the kickstarter?who knows maybe with the money the guys hire more people and make things faster.and i agree that 2d isn't dead and it will never died.machinarium (epic),limbo (epic^2),angry birds is the answer.

"everytime we ask for native applications: answer:if you have issues contact with ludei"

    so sad, yet soooooo true...

and still lacking of monetization methods: do paid app for iOS or get pennies on Android, bc no serious support for ads (entry, interstitial, exit and so on)

but maybe it's because Ashley see that 30% users are kids, 50% wants to make RPG game (yeah, sure...) and 20% will do iOS :)
