  • AFAIK the latest official Greenworks plugin is working OK. Is it just a case of missing features, or bugs, or what? For example the existing Greenworks plugin can already activate achievements, so how come you mentioned that? And if you just say "it's a mess", there's not a lot I can do about that, but if you make a list of five bugs for example, I can work my way through fixing them. Vague posts like this just leave me wondering if you've actually tried it lately?

My take on asking was just that I reckon main features required to get a game out there and published esp if you are a small studio/business that gets asked to pay more if the game works or takes off, then needs to be supported by Scirra officially.

Having it in Construct 3 other than a plugin made by some hobbyist (and by NO means do I intend any disrespect to the developer of the Greenworks plugin...he is a lifesaver where Construct 2 could not do this)

I understand that by "farming out" a lot of features to third party developers hoping they continue takes a lot of work off your back Ashley.

I just think something like an export option to get your game on one of the most heavily used publishing services should be supported by Construct 3...hell it should have been supported by Construct 2 imho. Esp as i said you get to gain if a game makes over the stated amount of sales and now need to buy a business license. What does that developer of the Greenworks plugin then get? Nothing?

What if he decides to leave..or he becomes ill or just decides hey, more money to be made in Unity plugins for example.

Then the guy who bought into Scirra now needs to tell his audience sorry...can't update the game because the developer who made a free plugin is missing.

I know thats kind of a worse case scenario, but I will feel much better if something like this was supported inside C3 and Scirra can keep an eye out for changes and updates.

I've said my peace here - your software you can do what you want. I just know I and I'm sure many others would be happy to see it supported, same as exporters to phones without relying on broken 3rd party stuff.

Also mentioning XboxOne's new Indie Dev system...I'f you can support that natively, why not Steamworks?

It's the ONE pain solving area... imho again.. that Construct lacks vs the competition. Most of them have dedicated exporters / support for Steam mobile etc built in and does it pretty easily.

Technical arguments aside, it is what it is.

Thanks for the updates on C3.

I'm excited for C3 anyway and can't wait to have a tinker with it.

    Peace.

  • I'm very happy that Construct 3 is now finally announced, the fact that it will work on MAC and the rest of the announcements. It seems it's going into a great direction.

I have one question / suggestion.

PLEASE add native support for Steamworks in the same greatly thought out way than the rest of Construct.

I know there is Greenworks and it's a great plugin.

It would be great if this can be handled by Construct 3 to allow devs to use the achievements and card systems etc. natively.

  • I had a lot of ideas for a long time, but never really had any tool to make them until i found Construct 2. I tried a couple of times to make projects with friends. But there's often too many hickups and bumps along the road working in a team (On your "spare time"). If i really do need help on something I will actually consider paying someone to do it, or ask help in that particular matter.

Many projects that you do on your spare time tends to become more of a burdon than a hobby if you involve too many people. Although, If you synchronise your vacations, sit together a couple of days/weekends/weeks working intensely and focused together towards the same goal, you can achieve a lot more than doing an hour here and there, depending on each other to fix certain things.

If you really need to work together with other people on something doing it focused and intensely over a shorter period works way better than stray work every now and then. Getting together over the weekend, Rent a cabin in the woods (preferably with as few distractions as possible), kiss your partner goodbye, and just go crazy.

For me when I'm working alone on something, i use the few hours after work every now and then for planning, inspiration, sketching, writing down ideas, and set a goal what I want to get done over the weekend. Then first thing Saturday morning I brew myself a nice cup of Java, and start work, until i'm too tired to continue, and the same thing on Sunday, if I don't have anything else booked.

At least that's what works for me.

Basically me in a nutshell as well. Although I swap my Saturdays with late night weekdays. I rather go ride my motorcycle or something like that on a Saturday. Otherwise yeah basically the same.

I'm not sure how it's working out though. lots of concepts and ideas but nothing quite finished although the latest game is getting some traction

  • Thanks!

    Very cool.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Geez, some super cool stuff here in the last couple of pages.

This working plugin is sorely needed.

  • Fusion 2.5 definitely faster on exe but thats if you do tests on particles and stuff ons screen etc.

For real world usage exporting the exe for windows is plenty fast. Don't notice slowdowns. I am running it on a beefy laptop and beefy computer though.

Single .exe is not a problem to create.

  • Hi. Is it posible to create this kind of effect or something close to it ? I am referring to the dust/fog from the background animating like that.

    http://postimg.org/image/4conlyymh/

Whats the gif from? a game? looks pretty insane if it is.

You should be able to make the dust clouds from particle effects.

  • I just said run anyway and it installs, but tested it on a few other PC's here at work. Same error.

  • Sounds like an issue with your computer Cdogs. Very frustrating though I agree. It has only happened to me a handful of times over the last few years (in my cases C2 just stopped responding) but even so what I do is try and save every time I think I have done something I don't want to redo again.

That pretty much goes for any software in windows for me.

    Unrelated: Real cool Templates

    Carry on.

  • yeah 3d max is also good. maya and 3d max. you can do it with blender which is free, but takes more time to make better shapes and stuff because of less features.

Thats not accurate information at all.

Blender has a ton of features - arguably more - than Max and Maya, Sculpting built in, Auto rigging built in, Toon shaders, built in.

Not to mention it's free and runs on almost any machine.

Other options are Cinema4D and Lightwave.

But I'll go Blender. TONS of tutorials etc.

    Go poke around here

    http://blenderartists.org/forum/

    and here

    https://cgcookie.com/courses/?fwp_division=blender

or just search Blender tutorials on youtube.

You could even do your cutscenes in there as a 2.5d vid.

  • Also getting this on Windows 10.

Working fine on another laptop with Win 7

    Build 216 working fine.

I own Gamemaker Studio, Fusion 2.5 and Construct 2.

Construct is the cheapest and the best for my use. Comes with easy download and no fuss licensing etc.

Everytime I get to use the others I feel frustrated by something or the other, when I use Construct 2 I feel like a weight has been lifted. This goes from using the sites, tutorials upgrading licences etc.

Construct 2 makes game development fun.

There are issues or things I wish where different but with Ashley Tom and some members here doing amazing plugins etc, it's really non issues.

And this is where Scirra has a HUGE lead. The community and documentation as well as how professional things look (websites, forums, documentation, tutorials) esp in comparison with Clickteams stuff.

Funnily enough I really like the way Fusion 2.5 event system works...everything is exposed all the time. It's a great way too learn. I am in the minority but I can tell exactly whats what, however, because of the way it is it's also very limiting in some ways, although many, many good games have been made with it. FNAF 1-4 to name just one series.

I do feel competition will heat up with Fusion 3 and Construct 3.

Yves one of the Devs said that Fusion 3 will definitely release in 2016, so this year we get to see Fusion 3 and Construct 3 I bet.

My money is on Scirra though.

Gamemaker lost the plot somehow imho. it just got so fragmented in community and tool that unless you just code it gets frustrating fast. To me anyway. Not to mention both those two tools are very expensive.

Imho Construct 3 is where it's going to be at...although I really like Fusion for it's export options native...I understand what Scirra is trying to do, why, and the bet on HTML5.

I think it will pay off.

Ashley and team feels they know better than the community at what we need, rather than what we want. For the most part they might be right

  • That's exactly what it means.
