  • For physics, it uses Box2D asm.js.

  • I haven't used Stencyl much. However when I did it's UI felt terrible. Construct 2 does a way better job there. Also, programming with the event system is easier than Stencyl's block system.

I don't want to tell you that Construct 2 is great. The best ways is to experience it yourself and see whether it is good for you, your team and your projects. As it was suggested before, try the free edition out and see how it goes. Only one thing you must keep in mind: Construct 2 relies on 3rd party wrappers for various platforms, and it's a HTML5 game engine. So don't expect native export.

If you're interested in my personal opinion about the software: I use Construct 2 for various projects. I make games, educational software and even webpage modules with it. I love it, because it's fast and easy and you can do almost anything with it.

Also, after you try Construct 2, it might be helpful for others if you post what you found good/bad about it in relation to Stencyl in-case others are interested as well.

  • Thank you for the reply. As of today, they did not upload their games, but in the future I'll let the students know that they can do that.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Would be great to see Construct 2 supporting the new controller.

  • I'll lay my money on early 2016 for the reveal, with early adopter following a few months later.

  • You are most welcome glerikud! Wish you success and great stories

    Thank you

  • Ashley The event will be on monday. Will it be alright if they upload their games into the Other category?

  • any news on construct3? This somehow turned into another benchmarking thread.

Ashley is there any estimate on c3 news? What is the progress so far?

Nothing yet. It's still in the works and release is TBA / when it's done.

  • The important thing is that it works now

  • Loved it! 'Tis a great game. I was glad to find that not all choices were that obvious. I was actually confused as the main character and didn't really know what was the right thing to do at each moment of paranoia and fear.

Gave it 5 stars by the way

Thank you for playing it. We're glad that you had a good experience with our game

  • Did you install them to the right folder? If yes, then they may be incompatible with the C2 version you're using.

  • In the next week, I'll lead a workshop about Construct 2, teaching students the basic usage of the program and how to develop simple games with it. At the end, I'd like them to upload their games to Scirra Arcade.

But since they'll work on the same project with the free edition of Construct 2, does Scirra allows very similar games (15-20 games from the whole group) to be uploaded to the Arcade?

  • Try to re-download your license file from the Store (you should be able to do that). If it still doesn't work, just wait for Scirra's answer I guess.
