  • I don't think C2 will recommend CocoonIO as their default export option for one single reason, it's free version is limited. I think we can all imagine the headache of having to explain in their C2 sales pitch about it.

They don't have to make it the default export option for mobile. It would be enough (and imho necessary) to just support it offically.

  • Sounds a simple but useful suggestion. +1

  • I've sent you a PM with my Skype, but you didn't add me.

Same here. We probably have to be patient.

  • Scirra has waited for some 3rd party sources to update and get stable but we can expect an updated, offical version soon. Also, I recommend reading the last 3-4 pages of that topic you linked since that is the offical topic for the Steamworks plugins.

  • If Cocoon.IO proves to be a good alternative, I'd also like to see Scirra making it offically supported as an export platform ( while keeping the XDK support as well). It's safer to stand on more legs.

  • Well, it's something. I hope it all goes well and then only Sony would have to think of a way to give HTML5 apps a chance on their hardware.

  • I believe that this should be in this forum category:

Btw, not a bad one I just missed the sounds.

BTW I do not work for Scirra, I am not an affiliate, I work for myself, on bespoke php intranet projects that take months and sometimes years to complete. I just like developing games as a hobby, but I am well aware of people and customers that want my products, but don't want to pay for them.

Don't worry, many of us feel the same way (myself included). Scirra created something very good and very important and keep doing so. They have an important role with their software in the development of the visual programming methods (which are, in my opinion, the future of software development).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • But then I've also played Cities: Skylines and Satellite Reign, both made with Unity and both ran flawlessly. I didn't believe the games were made with Unity but it's true, they highly customized the engine to get it to handle such massive scope.

And I believed they could do it with the base Unity engine.. Well, it's good to know at least. I just don't understand that how could Unity become the most popular engine if there are better alternatives on the market?

  • Every engine has it's flaws, but still, it's good to see from time to time that even the big ones can and do bleed.

  • I recommend setting up a backup folder to a Dropbox account. You can restore all versions of a file for 30 days with the free account.

  • I would actually like to do that, I do hope the mods wouldn't see it as off topic or advertising another product but yeah its certainly an idea.

There were similar posts on this forum comparing C2 to Unity, etc.. So I don't think this will be a problem

  • Good luck for your future projects. May I ask you that after a few weeks-months of ClickTeam Fusion, please come back and write your opinion about that engine compared to C2?

  • I'm not sure it would work, but it might worth a try: Disable updates for C2 in Steam, then download the desired Construct 2 version from the offical website and install it. Finally, copy your installed files and replace the ones located in the Steam version's directory.

Personally, I'd like to see some badly designed event programming engines to follow the great example Construct 2 provides. I don't mean that they should clone it, but it's a good thing if they rethink their methods (this is especially true for CF, because their event system is ancient).

In any case I think Scirra is very aware of what ClickTeam is doing (and vice versa of course) and thus keeps public information about Construct 3 to a minimum and rightfully so!

If and when Scirra thinks it to be appropriate to release any info about C3 I will enthusiasticly read it

    +1

Well at the end I can just hope that CT Fusion 3.0 will not be a "C2 lookalike" engine with free exporters and a low price because that would literally mean the end of Construct 3.)

I don't think Scirra should worry about that. CF pricing is not expected to be dropped imo.
