  • I don't think that is possible. Personally I like the way Scirra does things decentralized. You can use the engine and all of it's features even offline, completely independently of your Scirra account. I think this is a huge plus seeing how all of the other softwares go for the centralized approach.

  • You may store the current layout's name in a variable using the LayoutName expression, then access that variable after you switched layouts.

  • I use the latest as well.

  • I shall continue to use it in different cases, then I'll probably write a tutorial "Dynamic light in Construct 2" to expose every single thing I learned about that on these past 3 months. The different solutions, how to apply them etc. All.

    I'd love to read it

  • There could be something that collides with Construct 2 under the hood (just like you can't use XAMPP and Skype at the same time). I'd go with uninstalling Winamp and picking a different music player (I know, it's not a pleasure to part from our favourite softwares.. try using foobar2000, it works fine with C2).

  • Develop your code with as much optimization as you can do. Especially if your target platform is mobile.

  • *Seamless building to Android and iOS

    *Improved mobile performance

*Seamless integration with no problems using iAP, Ads, Google Play/Gamecenter

    *Major improvement to plugin support

    * New features (can't think of anything at the top of head)

These are a bit general but really good suggestions. I saw other users asking for similar improvements.

Construct 2 is a great basis for all this, but please don't waste time/effort designing for 3D. If I wanted 3D would use Unreal engine (which already has event driven support called Blueprints) or Unity 3D (which has well developed plugins for Events). Do not put yourself up against these behemoths and focus on making 2D game development the best.

    +1

On a side note if you MUST grow past 2d games, try adding better support to creating different type of Apps (fitness, maps, social networking, etc)

It would be interesting to see Construct 3 move towards making apps as well and not just games. I'd love to see a focus for apps too. We can make certain types of apps with Construct 2 as well, and while I think it's the best way to have Construct 3 as game development focused as Construct 2, a few features designed for app development woudn't hurt if Scirra have time to implement such.

  • What would you expect from a template for iPhone/iPad?

  • I have understood that it's going to be a cloud system. I haven't come across many cloud based software that isn't using subscription model. I like to "own" the software that i buy, not kind of rent it. Probably I'm little bit old fashioned that way, but I think I'm not the only one that thinks that way.

You will be able to use the edtor offline, and you'll have to pay for that only once. There will be indeed an online, cloud based editor and that indeed will use subscription based modell.

  • I don't get what the fuss is all about. Export for Cordova already says it can be used with Cocoon (Ludei)

Hmm, I didn't see it, thank you for pointing that out.

they already do have tutorials and blog post about it (http://www.scirra.com/tutorials/71/how- ... h-phonegap)

The beginner users would require a dedicated tutorial created just for Cocoon.IO and an updated one (the one you linked is from 2011). Also, the XDK method could use an updated tutorial too. I'm not demanding it don't get me wrong, especially since everyone could write it (including me). I'm just saying what I think about this.

  • How that who be beneficial for scirra to advertise cocoon.io products. So you are saying that scirra most tell people to buy construct 2 for $125 BUT you only allow to compile two game unless you paid cocoon more money, how scirra benefit from that

You misunderstood me. I'm just saying that if Scirra sees Cocoon.IO as a working alternative to XDK then they should tell the users about it. I'm not saying that they should encourage you to spend more money on the Cocoon.IO service. This is a thing only you can decide based on your impression. However Scirra would benefit by telling the users: "Hey, it's an other exporting solution that we support for mobile!"

  • It's probably going to be a subscription based though

It's too early to tell, but these are for sure:

    • There will be a free version, that will be capable of making games.
    • The paid versions will be affordable.
    • The engine is still a long way off.

You can follow the news in the Skype Group (linked in a post before) or on the offical forums:

    http://spark.ninja/

  • It would be great if Scirra acknowledged that Cocoon is a great alternative now, especially considering how much it has improved over the years and Intel has sadly not, but I don't really understand what you mean by supporting it officially?

I mean what you just said. You just found the right word for it: acknowledge. They should write a blog post about it, make an offical tutorial or something like that. The idea is to give the average developer a feeling that this export method is offically recommended, just like XDK so they feel like they have more options on mobile platforms.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.
