  • It depends on how well you can optimize your game. If you have 100 minigames on 100 different layouts then I don't think there will be any problems. Just make sure you test often (even with APKs).

  • I don't think that we should ignore a market that big (even if we compare it to Android).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Buy C2 from the Scirra store directly. I usually read complaints about the Steam version, while the one you download from the official site works just fine.

  • That's good news. However I think you should fire a bug report about this issue.

  • When you uninstalled the Steam version of C2, did you clean up any possible folders it left behind before reinstalling?

A good question to ask is - will construct3 editor be able to export to html5 without using any network service, and allow the user to wrap the game with xdk/cacoon the same way construct2 does?

Yes, they confirmed it in the blog posts that they'll keep the export options for using 3rd party wrappers.

  • Superpowers for example can be hosted from a local machine and accessed via a web browser by other machines via localhost - the same way that construct2 creates a localhost to playtest a game, construct3 could create a localhost of itself that other users on the network could access to collaborate on a project!

THAT would make it kick some serious butt on gamejams and literaly give it superpowers

    Now, that would be awesome.

  • scirra.com/tutorials/529/how-to-use-continuous-preview

How did I not know about this? Thanks for the link.

  • I am not in any way trying to intimate that Scirra would intentionally do anything illegal and contract laws are very tricky.

I think when a developer under 18 years old sign upin the US, it's not the service provider's fault (but I'm no attorney either). Literally anyone can create a PayPal, how could the companies check that the information their subscribers provide of themselves are valid?

  • If I understood your problem right, then change the event's like this:

Tap on object - create magnifying glass

Tap on magnifying glass - destroy it

  • I'd vouch for implementing a simple encryption, but with a warning for the users that it's main purpose is to prevent customers from just unzipping the files and was implemented for possible legal issues with bought assets.

I know it won't stop a bit more technical person to steal the assets, but I do think that if extra steps are necessary to get the assets instead of just unzipping a file, at least 75% of the people who would have stolen those assets won't do it. I think it's similar when a store leaves it's door for the night closed or locked.

  • ADDED: I do think Tom and Ashley should make it clear they will continue support and update C2 and relieve some of the fears people have and that could have been handled better with the rollout of C3. There are still issues with C2 and the website, forum and arcade that should also be addressed and fixed before a big rollout and they are working on those issues. I also think it is long past time for a 3D plugin for C2 and that is what I am waiting for.

They did make it clear. Read the blog posts, the confirmation is there. Tom also posted in the forum responding to similar concerns. TL:DR C2 will be supported and fixed in the future.

  • Not a problem at all, however if I recall correctly, you already know Unity, so if I decide to use this tool instead of C2 while I'm waiting for C3, I don't think my opinion will be really useful for you. Nobody uses Flash anymore, so once again, my point of view about it would be pretty useless. If I use Haxe Flixel or Godot or Fusion or anything which is not Unity, and if you wonder how useful and powerful the LibGdx library for Java truly is, I'd be glad to shate my experience on the matter, yep.

Indeed, I tried Unity, but I found UE4 more suitable for my needs. Currently I'm learning Godot. Not that I want to leave C2/C3, I just like to keep my eyes open on the market. However it's always useful to see this matter through someone else's eyes.

  • That or support for directly making plugs via the event sheet. (one of the main features I hope we get)

That would solve even more issues like this. This is on the top of my wishlist for C3.

  • The question is exactly what features you want and a detailed description of how they work.

I think a scrollable (with keyboard, mouse, touch, scrollbar on demand) text field with in-line formatting would solve most of the difficulties of creating a dialogue box. I've also coded my own recently, and while I agree that C2 and C3 shouldn't be a "cookie-cutter" engine, a text field like this could be very helpful.
