  • Are you aware of how much online storage space costs nowadays ?

You're getting 10 megs, free for each of your games, and still you are not happy ?

Also be sure you've used the correct scirra.com/blog/66/image-compression-in-construct-2 and do you really need for 10 megs of music ?

Don't blame the limitations, that's what game making is all about, learning to work with/around the limitations to make the best job possible.

"You're getting 10 megs, free for each of your games, and still you are not happy ?"

ohh I see you want me to pay to be a member, doesn't the site make enough from advertising and the software?

they way u speak to members who have bought the software is not appetizing at all!

"Are you aware of how much online storage space costs nowadays ?"

no I was born yesterday, lol

"Don't blame the limitations, that's what game making is all about, learning to work with/around the limitations to make the best job possible."

Yes I know this, it was a simple question, 'from a member'

all my images and sounds are fine, the 8.9 mb sound loop I have is of top quality, who wants scratchy music in there game, plus thats preloaded,

Kongregate gives you a size of 20mb, which is why I uploaded to there site.

  • no worries :)

It happens both when I navigate to my LAN preview address or to my localhost address. I just upgraded to the Personal edition today and I noticed I didn't like the CSS so I wanted to look at it in Firebug.

From within C2, if I change my Preview Browser to FF, FF also crashes immediately when I click the Run Layout button in the top menu.

In fact, I wanted to make sure it had nothing to do with my project so I just tried it with both a completely empty .capx and with a .capx that only had 1 button and it crashed in FF all cases.

Ohh, remember if its a new install of firefox, then install flash & java (with plugins) for the browser

  • yes, I've tried normal FF and also Nightly. My graphic card drivers are also up to date.

I have my default system browser as Chrome.

Right Im a bit confused lol

do you mean when you test your game straight from c2?

    or showing your preview online?

click your project and manually choose firefox-

    -as your browser

  • Steps to reproduce:

    1. Paste url for Contruct 2 preview

    2. Enter

    Observed result:

Firefox shows me "Contruct 2 preview" in the tab title and immediately crashes.

    Expected result:

Preview works perfectly fine in Chrome. This is my first time using preview in FF as I wanted to check CSS via Firebug. I don't know if this would have happened before today's release.

    Browsers affected:

    Chrome: no, version 28.0.1500.72 m

    Firefox: yes, version 22.0

    Internet Explorer: unknown

Operating system & service pack: Windows 7

    Construct 2 version: Release 139 (64-bit)

What do you mean by paste url? hit the test button,

  • the problem is the sprites if your using sprites larger than veiwed then shrink them in the image editor

All my sprites are 1:1, I make a mockup in PS first of my game THEN create the sprites, no inbound editing needed, just a shame the limit is 10mb :(

  • I think this forum is missing a instant chat area, like a shoutbox on the main forum, would be good to have instant interactions with people an its good for forming relationships with members,

It would be over used but im a member/moderator/admin of many sites and most of they sites use the principle of 'member status - regular shout box or boxes, moderator only boxes, admin only boxes,

Also you need so much rep to access it to start with.

Obviously if people spam or break the rules they will get banned from the shout boxes for 3 days to cool off.

    Any thoughts?

  • basically moving up and down and jumping is the same thing - sprite moves on Y axis. If you are using 8Direction behavior for movement you can then simply disable it when jump key is pressed. move (or animate) sprite along -Y axis, and when jump is finished enable 8Dir again.

Limitation of this is that you can't move while jumping.

If you wan't to move and jump at the same time do it same way but instead of disabling behavior add an offset for Y position.

You can enable an event like, (invert) when player is on collision with), floor or objects). then set a keyboard command to move the player when in the air then cancel it on collision with desired objects, yes its a bit more code but atleast when progressing with the game you can add objects to the event or sub events which will give more variety.

Going to Make A Simple Game in a Week?

With my middle school students, I am going to make a simple game in a week and I'm looking for feedback.

This is a rough of my plan...

Day 1-2 Study Real Physics and Sounds/ Chacater/ Mid Ground/ Background.

Day 3 Get Sound and Graphics in to C2

Day 4-5 Play Test and Fix.

Any and all thoughts welcomed. [ Or here is another thought, how about you make a game yourself then segment it into learn-able chunks with a time period that you feel is fit for the students :)

Any and all thoughts welcomed. [ Are you or your students familiar with C2? If not then having 1-2 days on each segment of the game really isn't enough time, I would give them a week familiarizing there self's with C2 'like doing some tutorials which are posted here' Also you need to give at least another week on the 'play test & fix' segment as its the hardest part, But all really depends on the games complexity, :)

    - Q

I was about to say your work looks VERY generic until I saw this :)

nice detailing, lines, shadows & highlights, looks like a awesome sprite, although with this scaled down to a playable size within a flash game you'll lose most of the details :(

Try some hi-detailed & smooth graphics with the sizes of 32x32 or 64x64, that way people will be more interested in employing you for there projects :)

    PS CS-6 rules :P

  • Will Scirra ever up there upload limit from 10mb?

I've played a few games there that just plain crash my browser and stop the scripts,

On my new game I made a preload layout and event sheet with like 3 events which preload all the big files before going to the complex gameplay event sheet and it runs so smoothly, I have 2 music loop files that are near enough 10mb each too.

I couldn't upload to scirra arcade because my project was 13mb :(

  • Moved to Open Topic

    Thank you :)

  • Ohh and why is it 'spam'?

Im not selling anything nor making money, nor am I going to indulge in a processed meat delicacy!

Yes its the wrong topic, not spam

  • try moving your sprite origin to the bottom right,
