Going to Make A Simple Game in a Week?

With my middle school students, I am going to make a simple game in a week and I'm looking for feedback.

This is a rough of my plan...

Day 1-2 Study Real Physics and Sounds/ Chacater/ Mid Ground/ Background.

Day 3 Get Sound and Graphics in to C2

Day 4-5 Play Test and Fix.

Any and all thoughts welcomed. [

Any and all thoughts welcomed. [ Are you or your students familiar with C2? If not then having 1-2 days on each segment of the game really isn't enough time, I would give them a week familiarizing there self's with C2 'like doing some tutorials which are posted here' Also you need to give at least another week on the 'play test & fix' segment as its the hardest part, But all really depends on the games complexity, :)

  • Being in the process of writing a training for middle school students (13 years old and above) and testing it, I can tell you from experience that apps cut in chunks work much better, and that you shouldn't have them do everything by themselves. At least if your aim is to teach programming basics.

Don't forget that the human mind can only digest limited chunks of information at a time (6 different rules, pieces of information, etc. at once, says psychology), thus you'd better focus on specific notions.

    Good luck anyway !

  • This is what they picked...

    Any thoughts?

  • Should be good for 1 week.

    Parts:

    • Set up Project
    • Tiled Backgrounds
    • Sprites
    • Animations (I think this one you can skip at pacman)
    • Behaivors
    • Grid Movement
    • Collision
    • Automatic Movement (KI?)
    • Families
    • Sounds

This sounds much and I?m sure there is also some missing but I think this could be done in 1 week.

And please don?t spend 2 days on testing(fixing) and playing. This should be a "working progress", every time you finish a part they should try it.
