  • I was about to ask the same thing

  • It would be a local database. I have no problem having the application running in a browser (by desktop I really meant "runs locally").

But I think C2 doesn't have a component to access database so, I have no idea how I'll do that

  • Hi,

I'd like to make an application to manage data but I need to visualize it in a graph and Construct 2 would be really helpful for that part.

I know you can add buttons, lists and textboxes but, do you think it's powerful enough to drive lots of data parsed from a database?

    Thanks

  • I haven't touched C2 for a while now but I assume that you can build your application for a specific screen size then check the ratio of the current device screen size, then apply this ratio with the SetLayerScale:

    Example:

Let's say your application runs in 1000x500 by default, then the device running your game is 1200x600, then you get a 1.2 ratio. You can probably use the SetLayerScale with the 1.2 ratio to resize your game..

I guess it would look like something like this:

    SetLayerScale(WindowWidth/DefaultWidth,WindowHeight/DefaultHeight)

It's probably not working exactly like that in C2 but that's the idea.

  • Hmm that 2BC idea is not bad but it messes up the whole concept of the OBC :) I`ll think about!

  • I guess I'll buy myself a little treat with my buck this time :)

I think I will rename this challenge to OBC - November and make a poll to choose the theme. Hoping people will have more motivation :)

  • Then October 9th it is!

  • Since we have no entry at all, shall the tournament continue until next Sunday, October 9th, right before Thanksgiving :)

  • So anybody started to work on something yet ? :)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • does the entry have to be something that you make in the duration of the competition?

Hmm I'm afraid so.. I'd say no but I don't think it would be fair to people who got the theme only at the beginning of the challenge ;)

  • By "A Living World" I'm thinking about game mechanics that would enhance player experience in the gaming world. Interacting with object to modify its surrounding and the world changing by itself.

Lots of games have introduced a "living world" but it's most of the time driven by the player's actions.

And yes it's gonna be a poll :) I didn't like my experience last time. I hate having to tell people they didn't win :(

  • OMG! Here it goes for the 2nd One Buck Challenge (at last). This time you can start right now as long as you submit before the end. And since C2 has gained in popularity I guess you can participate with CC and C2.

    Needed files:

Classic = Provide a working .exe only. No source required.

C2 = Either host the game somewhere or send a ZIP package with exported files.

    Theme: "A Living World"

End: You have until October 2nd 23:59 (GMT) to submit.

After upload, make sure the download link works.

    Prizes:

    -One Buck! (via PayPal)

If you have any question just ask I will add details if needed.

TO MODERATOR: You can delete the thread "One Buck Challenge - August". It's useless now..

  • Ok folks I'm back. I had a lot of stuff (bad stuff) going on in my life recently so the last thing I was thinking of is that contest.

Now that I'm single again, I'll take the time to check out what's been going on with Scirra (the website changed and *WHHAATT* there are limitations on the free version of C2), etc.

So tonight I'm getting drunk, but tomorrow I'll post the rules for the september contest. The contest will take place between Sept. 25 and October 2nd.

  • Thanks abhilash it works!

I should have remembered my old programming lesson about the % operator.. shame on me :)

  • Hi

Is it possible to get the remainder of a division using expressions currently in C2 ? If not, would it be possible to add it in the next release ?

    Thanks a lot (Ashley) :D
