  • I've been trying to make 3D games in Blender for a couple of years until I realized that the game engine wasn't really optimized to make games I'd like to do. So I started to look for a 2D game editor and Google introduced me to Construct :)

  • It's not something I should laugh about but, come on.

  • Jetpack propelled grappling hook to reach places beyond imagination!

But since no such thing exist yet, just a Jetpack.

  • Is it fullscreen by default ? :)

I'd like to take a loot but I'm at work haha I can't really risk popping a fullscreen game :)

  • And the winner of the first One Buck Challenge is! taratataratataratatara.. Phobos002!

The choice has been hard and we had to play both games for hours.

(the chat game was not retained in the final decision since there is no actual gameplay) But we can't wait to try it once it will get more advanced, maybe for the next challenge )

The little (teeny tiny little) guy jumping around trying not to get crushed or shot was a real long lasting challenge. A bit hard since our main goal quickly became to simply not die. But it was fun.

One of us is still playing it actually.

Congratulations Phobos002. Now you can get yourself a brand new buck in your bank account and a new avatar by "Procrastinator" (don't expect it before christmas haha).

Thank you all for your participation and stay tuned for the next comp!

I'll post details pretty soon. The comp will take place in July and probably won't last that long so people don't forget about it

  • Ryan Dunn, specially known for "Jackass" series, died in a car accident monday morning, June 20th.

I didn't see him since Jackass 2 but I saw him sunday night on television with Steve-O, he died a couple hours after that..

  • That's it for the first edition of the One Buck Challenge! 1 hour late sorry, had diner for Father's day!

Me and the other judges will look at the entries and post back the result here in a couple of days. Stay tuned for the winner and details about the next competition!

Thank you all for your interest in this competition! (I always wanted to create a game dev contest )

  • Yeah the comp ends tomorrow night

I still have to decide if the next one starts right after this one or I wait for a week or two before starting the other one.

Note that the next comp will be shorter, like 1 week and will have a less restrictive (more creative) single rule

More details to come after this competition.

  • Id like to know all that stuff But I dont so I keep thinking the ball I throw falls because of all the little people in it failing to fly it properly.. Naaahh just kidding, naaah im serious.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I'd like to see Apple answer to that considering that they're strongly supporting HTML5/JS applications/games since they hate Flash.

  • In Quebec we have what we call CEGEP (College), which is usually mandatory before University.

After the eleventh year at school (5th Secondary year in High School), most people go to College in prevision of going at University. But maybe half of them stop after College with a technical training in a specific field, computer science, mechanical design, etc.. Most advanced studies in College like biology, chemistry or mathematics won't be that useful if you don't plan to go to University.

Currently, Quebec high schools have a drop out rate of near 40% for boys. Which is pretty high. Those boys will later try to do private studies in car mechanics or welding which usually don't require you to have completed high school.

I don't know much about Exams and things like that since I didn't go to University but I know that we use a credits system in both College and University.

I plan to go back to University to get a Bachelor in computer science (90 credits) or just a certificate (30 credits), since I'm 26 and haven't been in school in the past 5 years. I can be admitted as an Adult candidate and only pass math and french test before starting the official program.

I find that pretty nice when you want to see how the real world works before choosing a career.

  • Thats a good idea actually haha!

Note that judges have a great sense of humor

  • By the way only 4 days until the end.

    Judges will most probably be:

    Myself - Lead Game Tester

Jeff - Level Designer on Prince of Persia / Assassin's Creed

Pascal - Game Producer of Mobile and Web Casual games

  • Flying scisors.. really man?!

Nah seriously thats nice and pretty hard, the only way I found to not die is to SPOILER!! Nah I'll let you guys find out

  • That is so logic I didn't even think about that.

Fact is that it's always gonna be a problem when doing html5 games for mobiles when you want to support iPhone and iPad, and the future iTable and iWall.. C2 or not. I'm gonna dig a little on other html5 developer forum and keep you posted
