  • How do you imagine a 2D game using AR ?

  • Haha loved it.

I played a game a couple of days ago which was similar but with penguins or something.. the cool thing was that the score board is actually in-game, each player's run is recorder then transposed as NPCs in the game (there must be a maximum like the 20 best run or something), and you race against them.

Everytime you launch the game it was probably looking at the last 20 best score, added 20 NPCs then applied the run stored in a database or something.

  • Hello constructor,

My name is Jordan (since Jordan is always used everywhere I came up with Djordhan which isn't used anywhere

Since then, I've been looking around to make some games I started with Duke Nukem 3D mod then began to learn 3D modeling.

I studied in 2D/3D Animation for videogames then found a job at Ubisoft as a game tester. I spent 5 years working at Ubisoft. During those years I learnt a lot about videogame development and I started to develop some myself. I used Blender for a while to make a Tank Simulator (you're alone in an empty water tank, its pitch black and there's nothing you can do about it). Pretty awesome I tell you.

Now that I found Construct. Well I know Construct.

  • Yeah Ludum Dare is what made me think of a competition with Construct, since I don't want to wait 4 months between each comp, it would probably be a weekly or monthly thing.

I was also inspired by the 3DTotal competitions, they have weekly challenge and may have multiple challenges going on at the same, with different theme, going on for a while and allowing people for multiple entries.

For now I think it would be better to stick to the first idea which was a Ludum Dare like contest.

We will vote a theme and vote for the timezone the contest will be based on.

I will start looking around for prizes and judges.

Ashely, would it be possible to get a new section for Challenges on the main forum page ?

  • UPDATE

    Competition forum is now available:

  • Well, the Foe seems to pick the destroyed object even after the end of the Destroy event. It uses an Overlapping at offset condition and was still picking it. So you're right in saying that objects are still "pickable" until the end of the tick no matter what.

That's a very useful information thank you You're very.. lucid!

  • Well, sorry, I found my problem. The issue was the events order. The target was reset to 0 then further down in the event sheet, set back to the UID of the destroyed Friend.

Which is strange since the Friend was destroyed before Foe's target would be set, so I don't understand why Foes detected the destroyed Friend.

Anyway, I put the target reset logic at the bottom of the sheet to fix it. But I hate not understanding something

  • Hola amigos,

Ok seriously, can you guys tell me what do you think should happen with this?

    <img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/Djordhan/foreach1.png">

I would expect all instance of Foe to be checked every time a Friend is destroyed then set each Foe's target value to 0 if its current target equals the destroyed Friend's UID.

Currently, only one instance has its target value reset to 0. Result, some Foe will continue shooting at already destroyed target forever.

  • I don't have much time either to write things up but I'm interested in making the french translation in order to widen the book's market.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • A Sniper game in which you move around an huge urban or jungle area. (not too huge, must be able to see from one side to another at all time).

Art: I think of a realistic style with exaggerated proportions. Kind of universe like in the movie Rollerball where extreme sports now "allow".

Gameplay: You actually play the sport. You must continuously activate switches (or something) at random places and other player try to kill you since the winner is the one with the most activation within the round time.

Briefly, it would be a game of patience and strategy. Patience would be very important because you would have to move slowly not to make sound.

For the leveling and skill system, the game would reward you automatically depending on how you react to events triggered by other players.

    That's pretty much it.

(I think I'm pissed of being harassed for sniping in most shooter games )

  • Tom So I'm just curious, I remember a thread where you noted the difference between royalties and volume related license prices. What I know from other companies is that, usually, license fee gets lower if volume is larger.

Let's say I pay my 40$ lonely license and make a gazillion bucks with my project, is there a percentage rules over sales or it will only be per volume ?

  • With the huge amount of games available right now, its difficult to give a game enough time to impress us. Take Ludum Dare for example, a single contest offers more than 300 small games for the judges to try.

If you really want to keep the player's attention, your game must have a hook right at the beginning. And you game, kayupla, has one. Only the presentation need more work.

  • Hi!

Pretty cool but I'd like to hold the mouse button to shoot continuously, even if it's not very fast, I hate when I have to spam the mouse button, but it's just me

Tutorials should be implemented within the gameplay, like.. guiding the player during the first minutes to explain breifly how to play and how glyphes work.

    Opinion only, I'm no critic!

EDIT: By the way, I just found out that I can control bullets after shooting them, even if it was clearly written That's really cool!

  • If someday we have proof that he's not dead, US citizens (specially those who cried of joy upon Laden's death announcement) will get very, very mad.

  • In your face, people who care! Anyway haven't you heard about Gamification ?

Introducing games-like application to train and educate people in working environment ?

Some say Gamification will be widely used in terrorism by rewarding terrorist for each killed target, etc. They would earn XP over time etc..

Stop making games right now I say!!!! or not.
