  • insert the frames into a sprite object, then always >> set animation frame to total#offrames-player.x%total#offrames I havent tested it, but try it anyways. Anyways, the idea is to have them as sprite frames then work out a formula to display them seamlessly.

  • Is it advisable to have two different versions of Construct installed at the same time?

    I have every version since 98.9 installed into a convenient "Construct Versions" folder. Very handy.

  • I don't have time to explain it right now, but it's possible.

  • Would be a shame to lose it. Someone mentioned using it to create a level editor, so it certainly has it's uses.

    All level/game editors are/should be made in the DirectX runtime. The App runtime is pretty featureless; it doesn't even support graphics.

  • After posting it, it looks a little empty. It looks so much better in motion (there are explosions going off in the background). All the wings and pieces of the ship are individual and move according to the direction the player goes in. Explosions are hand animated the old fashioned way, all the graphics I drew up in photoshop, and haven't got around to finalizing the player's ship's graphics. Really though, the animation of the ship moving I'm really proud of.

    Also, besides shooting, you can do barrel rolls, which is animated, and the camera will zoom in dynamically and stuff. All the other layers have different Zoom rates, so it's really dramatic.... and cool.

    No enemies yet, but... they're coming. And battleships in the background too. I just hope I can program enemy movements.... which I suck at. >_< But yeah, almost all of the player craft movement and shooting is in there. I find myself working on the background and the ambiance more than the actual gameplay though. lol. haha.

    Youtube is your friend.

  • Yea, I usually refuse to download from rapidshare or mediafire. Get into the habit of using box.net or dropbox, they're really much better.

  • Hmm I'm a bit confused though. I was thinking, would it be an alternative if I make invisible dots in a layout and name them with something like "pointA". and use those dots rather than waypoints?

    I'm also confused, are you still thinking of using rts behavior?

    Also, why are you asking this? It's up to you to determine if it's an alternative solution. It depends on what you want.

  • I am in love with this.

  • we're probably going to have to look into using a different toolkit.

    wow. just for that? It really isn't that big of a deal. Just make it windowed, or stretch the screen in fullscreen. Or, use my upscaling technique. Hell, just set the resolution to a multiple of the user screen size and zoom in. If you're looking for a true doubling of pixels though, you're out of luck. I have a feeling this won't come for a long time, if ever.

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • maybe it could work , if all unkown data would mark it at such and then you create it by replacing it or creating it.

    Yea, but I think that's kind of the entire reason for why it doesn't work; Making that is a lot of work/testing/headaches/impossible? with the current code.

  • The main features of the "game" would have involved moving through a grocery store in first person to choose the right types of food to place in one's basket, and being able to do the faked 3D would make Construct a no-brainer choice for this project.

    Actually no, 3d is not what construct is meant for, nor is it easy to do in it. You're much better off with a free 3d engine for a 3d game, check out unity, it's much more suited for a first person game.

    Depending on the simplicity of your game, a mod derived from David's wolf engine might work. Any additions to the 3d features would require a hell of a lot more work though. Anyway, if you want to use this engine, make your game 98.9, it's a lot more stable too.

  • [quote:1vvny9mb]GTA (first one)

    CODE: SELECT ALL

    Platform = PC/Console

    Possible = Yes

    Difficulty = Very Difficult

    Notes = From my understanding, it could be done, but it would not be that easy.

    It's not very difficult really.

    [quote:1vvny9mb]R-Type

    CODE: SELECT ALL

    Platform = Arcade

    Possible = Yes, standard sideways scrolling game

    Difficulty = Medium

    Notes = Please include information here if you know if the R-Type ball weapon is possible, or those segmented enemies, including the tail of the first boss are also possible in construct

    seriously? the ball weapon? that's super easy to do. Segmented enemies are also very possible, my brother quazi has done one in his game/example ev0lution, search for it.

    [quote:1vvny9mb]Are things like resources, building units, heck even 'zerging' the opponent, possible?

    are you kidding me?

    This thread can be simplified to... if it's 2d, it's doable, just put in the work.

  • lol

  • I've been noticing a lot of mediafire links too. Seriously people, use box.net or dropbox. There's a good chance people will not download your stuff if it's on mediafire. Do not even attempt to use rapidshare, megaupload or anything else with a big, shiny, spammy name. BOX.NET AND DROPBOX ARE THE ONLY OPTIONS!

  • I've made a full timeline based animation editor/recorder for a complex character rig.
