  • There's also graphics gale for pixel art animations. That's what I use. What do mean by static character though? I'm not sure I understand. I think what you mean is just traditional animation of a sprite, (no segmented body parts, just pure frame scrubbing of a single sprite) correct me if i'm wrong. If you want to make a nice looking run animation for that silhouette your going to have to redraw the frames by hand.

    Or do you want to bake a bone style movement by cutting that image up into limbs and animating them like a doll?

  • If the parameters are there normally, but not with families, then it's construct, not the effect.

  • I think he means timedelta. What he's proposing (I think), is instead of using timedelta in expressions, of putting the whole game in a every x milliseconds event. That could work in theory.. but then if you have a really fast framerate, the game will be stationary for many frames, instead of moving in smaller, incremental steps. You should do some experimenting to see how reliable the solution is, and how it affects smoothness of the game. However, if you do this, then change the timescale, the game framerate will just slow down. instead of smoothly slowing down while keeping framerate.

  • Yea, learn C1 and you'll know C2. It's the same program, just undergoing a rewrite. A few minor differences here and there.

  • Ok, I was thinking about two stationary points, with the 0-1 value being used to move, which is how I usually use lerp(). What wasn't made clear was that "here.x" is actually the sprite's own x. You should have said set "set .x to lerp(.x,there.x,1-0.5^timedelta)".

    For this kind of movement like you want, I usually just do

    set .x to .x+(abs(there.x-.x)/(somevalue*timedelta)).

  • What does this do exactly? Interpolates based on timedelta? The lower the framerate the closer you are to one of points? If the lerp value from 0-1 doesn't change, then how does it ease in/out?

  • That's pretty steep for a bunch of old videos. I guess they don't want to encourage people not coming to the conference in person (and paying the hefty fee) and just watching the vids afterwards online.

    It's not really like that in LoL. Once you rank high enough people are mostly good and the fights are pretty fair (good matchmaking). People often get mad at bad players because it ruins the match more than in other genres though. It's not worse than in other rts's however.
