your favorite games

"What games are you playing" is a fun topic (), but I wanted to share games that I appreciate. Maybe other people feel the same way (about either sharing, or about my favorite games).

If you had to make a list of 5 or so favorite games, what would it be?

(Gabe Newell's fav games: Super Mario 64, Doom and a punch card game called Trek)

(i'm sticking to the current generation of console games)

5. Resident Evil

The first game to ever scare me. (Yes, I know it's cheesy as hell but back in the day this game was groundbreaking.)

4. Super Mario Bros.

I played the hell out of this back in the day, and hell I still pull it out and play it every once in a while. And it's success pretty much launched the platform game genre, which overall is my favorite genre.

3. Metroid

So awesome.

2. The Legend of Zelda

It was a tossup between this, A Link to the Past, or Ocarina of Time. Finally decided on this because without it there wouldn't be any others.

And my number one favorite game:

1. GTA San Andreas

This is the game that I keep going back to more than any other. I've beaten it several times, and I almost never get tired of playing it. And it has THE BEST soundtrack of any game, ever (well, non-game music soundtrack anyway).

And yes I realize that there are three NES titles on that list. So what, I'm a nostalgic fanboy

Off the top of my head some of my favorites are:

Duke Nukem 64

God I played this game to death. I remember spending countless hours with my friends just playing in the death match. Had some awesome cheat codes aswell to keep things entertaining. Was close between this and Goldeneye 007 for N64.

Legend of Zelda : OOT

What can I say about this game that hasn't already been said. Started when I was just a little kid watching my mom and dad play zelda on nes. Didn't really get into it until OOT was released on N64.

Day of the Tentacle

Awesome game with a great story and cast of characters that really got me hooked on point and click games. (Could be said about any of the Lucas Arts point and click games really)

Super Mario 64

Just another amazing Mario game.

Im leaving out tons but you get the idea.

1.Dune 2 - I've spent countless hours playing it, also this game made me to like red color, Harkonnens were my favourites.

2.Operation Flashpoint - haven't tried the sequel yet, still waiting for better comp.

3.Dungeon Master 2 - can't forget killing monsters and changing their meat for money.

4.GTA - all - classic, from 1 till last part, constant superb quality.

5.Cool Boarders - Tony Hawk on snow, pity there is no similar game to this one nowdays.

Not sure about their placing, but all five would be near the top everytime. Dune2 probably always first.

Wait, how the hell can people like Kane and Lynch 2???

My five favorite:

Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening / Majora's Mask / Wind Waker (can't really pick between the three a definite favorite; they're all so perfect)

These for me are pretty much the definitively fun Zelda adventures. LA has the best classic Zelda experience, Majora's Mask has the best implementation of story, dungeons, and sidequests, and WW has the purest and most-fun sense of exploration and high-adventure in the series.

Super Metroid / Metroid Prime

The one game I think is essentially, and aesthetically perfect in every way. Prime is close, and pretty much essentially perfect as well, but both games are timeless and never get old.

Chrono Trigger

Another game that does not stop being fun, ever. Squaresoft perfected the turn-based RPG with Chrono Trigger, and made a fun, unique, and engaging world to play around in. Mitsuda's score also borders on perfection.

Yoshi's Island

This is probably Miyamoto's best game and masterpiece; everything about it is tight, fun, inventive, colorful, and bursting with charm. The game hardly ever goes below "incredibly fun", and everything from the bosses, the levels, and psychedelic Get Fuzzies are a treat.

Super Mario World

The other great in the list of greats. There is, as well, nothing wrong with this game, and is so chock-full of secrets and fun that it has kept me coming back to it time and time again.

Sorry.

But the feel of atmosphere (I like north east asia) is so real. Feels almost like I'm walking in Shanghai.

I also enjoy the interaction/chemistry between Kane & Lynch.

There are so many good games, but if I have to limit myself to only 5, I certainly will name those who really touched me like no other game. That makes it easier to name 5, but I won't set them in any order.

GTA San Andreas

This masterpiece got me as soon as I had to jump on a bicycle to escape while under horrible fire. But the tears of joy came when I entered a car, turned on the radio, and listened to Axel's rock show while driving all the way around the map. Twenty minutes at highest car speed (yeah, 20 minutes realtime), that's when I realized not only how huge this game is, but also with how much love to detail it was developed.

Final Fantasy VII

I never had much interest in asia rpg, until this one entered the european market. Wow, what a game, even touching emotions!

TES IV: Oblivion

The total freedom of what you do and how is unbeaten.

The secret of Monkey Island

Ron Gilbert <3 Need I say more? Ok then, I started the game and began to laugh - and didn't stop laughing until the end. This game teaches you what fun is ... even the copy protection was part of the whole concept!

A nameless game on the good old C64

I really don't know anymore what game it was, but it made me think about what brought this to life, how math can make something like that fun gaming experience work. And so I started to teach myself BASIC (yeah, no school courses these days) by typing some english words and evaluating the reactions of the C64-BASIC-Interpreter. Without that game I wouldn't sit here now, 25 years later, still enthusiastic and interested not only in games, but also in the creation of them.

There is a PC remake called Klass Of 99 IRC. I think every kid didn't like going to school but loved Skool Daze .
