  • Just make the loading screen a full-screen sprite and make sure it's the last thing visible before you change layout. I haven't actually tried this, but it should work. If you mean a loading bar that actually shows progress, Construct doesn't support that as far as I know.

    Optiplex GX260

    ...whoa.

A 2002 computer and it's never been upgraded? How can you even browse the web on that these days?

  • DO NOT USE HUGE RED BOLD CAPS, IT'S VERY ANNOYING!

  • Yeah, .persist files are a pest. Use Everything to search for "*.persist", select all, permadelete.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • and how to exit Fullscreen running? (Without task manager)

    Erm, System->Close?

  • Yeah, it wouldn't. Message boxes, by their very nature, are based around windows.

I don't quite understand. Are you using MessageBoxes to pause the game? Just set the time scale to 0.

  • You don't. Instead, create an invisible 'camera' object and set the attribute on that. Then, under Always, set the position of that to that of whatever you want to follow.

  • See title. My attempts resulted in dismal failure, with hundreds of gloriously unintelligible errors. I found this:

You can't use the SDK with GCC or MinGW - I don't think they use the same member-function-pointer binary format (which is how the runtime knows what function to call for actions, conditions and expressions), so it just wouldn't work. Sadly C++ makes no specification about the binary format of these things hence we're stuck.

which doesn't give me much hope, but perhaps some genius has hacked something up since then?

  • Plural of SDL doesn't make any sense. Do you know what SDL is?

  • I don't think so, sorry.

Yarfapet: Like tulamide said, Beep() is a blocking call. Perhaps I could do some fancy multithreading stuff so it won't do that, but no promises. I'd have to get VC++ on this new machine for starters.

  • Does this mean that there is no way, at all, that we can port a game made in the current versions of Construct (including 1.0) to consoles, to go on sale in the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Store?

Sorry, that's correct. There's no possible way to run a Construct app/game on a console. It's built entirely around Windows-only technology, such as Direct3D, and would require a complete rewrite to be multi-platform, which is exactly what Construct 2 will be.

  • I know how horrible it is when data storage devices die on you, but there's no need for the all-caps title

What model is it? You may need to pay for data recovery, I'm afraid. Like Davo said, try it in another computer, and google everything related you can think of.

Please tell me you make frequent backups to different devices.

  • I have never made a backup of any of my .caps, ever. It'll probably take a corruption until I realise that making backups is a little bit easier than rebuilding from scratch.

  • Post a screenshot. I'll tell you how much to sell it for.

-iPhone, iPod touch, Android, Nexus One (?) support?

Nexus One is an Android phone, it's not different. (It is damn good though)

For the most part, anything that works on an iPhone will work on an iTouch (unless it uses camera[1] or GPS).

[1] New iTouch 4 has a camera (two actually).
