People are watching and they see what is going on.

We're all watching alright. It's like a train wreck.

  • Try Construct 3

Lamar, I thought you were leaving because you thought we disrespected you? It seems relentlessly for the last several weeks there's been an endless reel of negativity and questions from you.

Have you considered that perhaps Construct 3 is not for you? If Construct 3 is not for you, maybe you should move on.

To be honest Im just about finished with everything gamedev related, it's all just become so depressing.

To be honest Im just about finished with THE FORUM, it's all just become so depressing.

There, I fixed it for you.

Don't you think it's a little too early for this?

Honestly I tried C3 for like 2 minutes and have never revisited it since. Not that I hate it or anything. I'm completely neutral with it. It's just that it's not a tool I'd be using for a long time as it spews out .c3p files which I have no use for. As stated in previous posts I will be using C2 mainly and only consider C3 if they decide for some reason in the near future C3 becomes the ONLY way to export your game.

I will be having a second first impression probably during the Newgrounds-Scirra Jam which I'm very excited for but as of now I'm not using it.

Why bother using and revisiting it this early on if you don't like what you're seeing? It will probably be on C2's level in the near future but as of now it's doing nothing but affirming your initial dislike of the software every time you open it.

This is exactly like people seeing the trailer for a movie (like the Female Ghostbusters movie last year) not liking what they saw. But then they keep watching and re-watching it, breaking down the trailer, noticing every pixel of detail, take every ounce of dialogue into heart and building their own contexts of what each line may have meant and then not liking the trains of thought they've constructed. It's like what do you expect?

Please tell us how you will be using C3 if you will be subscribing and if you are a serious game designer, small time game designer, hobbyist, educator or using the engine for some other purpose?

Also please tell us if you are a long time C2 user or new to game design or switching from some other engine to a Sciirra engine?

Yeah, I think the response Lamar is looking for belongs in his other thread which was locked. Lock this one and unlock that one maybe?

    Lock 'em both.

Posts like that are how threads get locked... =[ > Please please please.

Keep it polite - no personal attacks.

Seriously? That's as polite as I can be to a troll who continues to bait Ashley and Tom with repetitious questions, tells others their cheerleaders, says people run interference, which is three I've counted so far, and heck, even more than I feel like saying now.

I guess if you can't say anything nice to someone, don't say anything. I'll just abide by that rule, but you guys should seriously think about the constant negativity coming in most of these threads from one ring leader and what you should do about it.

    > I have asked Ashley to respond directly to my post.

    >

    > You seem to be more of a cheerleader trying to run interference so I would ask that you not respond to me until I have heard a response directly from Ashley to my question.

    >

You reposted the same post and keep saying the same things without addressing any questions when others are asking you to clarify things due to you being ambiguous.

What is wrong with it being browser based?

Man, it's all well and good for him to respond to others but never the other way around. You're either running interference or cheerleading for the team. You'll be marked a lapdog soon if you keep it up. Never speak to he who must not be named.

  • The devs were taking their weekend break. I think now that the new week has started we'll see a lot more bug fixes once again. There are a ton for them to go through at this point.

I mentioned this on the first or second day of the beta in another thread, not the weekend.

submit a bug report if you're having trouble.

I already did when someone else posted it. Still can't log in. Don't worry about it though. I don't plan on using it much at all.

I still think it's hilarious that I can't log in to the browser app. Always says unable to yada yada. I even cleared my cache several times since day 1, created a new password on the forum to use, and it still won't let me log in. "Serious" developers want to log in, amirite?

  • Is there no window for picking colors on android? And if not why allow sprite editing to begin with if you can only use black and white?

I mentioned to Ashley that you can't select the paint icon when not in full-screen mode on Android, and also that the color picker doesn't show up when you select the paint bucket. I never got a response though, not that I've seen anyway. I try not to be around as much now.

    Microsoft Construct. There's your roadmap.

I spent a year learning Construct a few years back because it advertised "no programming," and I didn't want to learn programming. And then I noticed most of the games I was creating looked like everyone else's, a pack of clones and mobile-looking derivatives. I learned to program. Now I don't use Construct.

Scirra spent years taking C2 and putting it in a browser and equipping it with some features they weren't able to put into C2. I had high hopes for the engine. Maybe it would be something fresh and evolved from C2 with more power. No, it's C2, in a browser. It targets devs who make browser games and probably the education market for teachers to show kids how to make games without programming.

Then, they'll probably sell to the highest bidder. I would. They might not, but I've used a lot of programs over the years that are now owned by a different entity.

  • The good thing about the Construct platform is it's easy to come back to after not using it for a while and be able to use it again without many problems. I can see it being easy for C3 as well.

Right now I'm going to reduce my post count on the forum as I don't plan on using this browser engine much at all, so there's no need to give my opinion about anything anymore. But if I ever need to use it, it's easy to pick up and go. I had higher hopes for C3, and I think one day a browser engine might catch on and it'll be easy to export to every platform as easy as it is with other engines. For now, much respect for the direction these guys are taking it. But it's just not for me.

Congrats on a successful launch and future!

  • I do think Visionaire's workflow is much friendlier for 2D point and click adventures.

I'm starting to agree with you. I looked into it some more and have downloaded, but have yet to try, Visionaire 5. It could really be a nice way to make a 2D point and click adventure. I may have to do a test on my own time with it for fun and see if anything comes of it. Thanks for mentioning it.
