  • It can't really be said enough times. Thank you very much all the developers.

I would also like to thank the people behind the new plugins and effects that's starting to pop up here and there!

  • Even if the $250,000 limit would affect some people, most of us would never have to care about it, so i think a Raknet plugin would be very usefull for most people.

  • can't find this either. Not that i need it right now, but i got curious.

  • I think that key presses have a certain index number, like 64 and so on, alphabet and numbers have a certain range. On key pressed, read the index (not sure how to do that), type that letter out - without having to do an event per each letter.

Is this possible to do? It would be awsome!

  • It's fun how many people write their name before the country. I did too.

  • So it depends on the amount of objects? Not the area for testing. So when i make my level i should resize the collision masks as much as possible instead of placing out 32*32's on a grid?

  • Pirates looks awsome! It SOUNDS awsome too! the music and sound effects where wonderful. However, the ball tended to dissapear out of the screen and never come back. If there's an updated version without this problem, or a .cap, please post it cus i would like to play it for real.

  • that is ugly.. or does someone have a good method of writing? The methods i've tired are:

Making an event for each letter.

    or

having an editbox allways on focus outside the screen, and have an event:

    Editbox.text <> "" (not nothing)

    -text: set text to editbox.text

    -text: set text to ""

of course the second one doesn't solve your problem.

I hope that i've been an idiot and missed something.

  • I agree. And i also would like it to run on my cellphone so i can make games in scool classes. And it would be cool if it supported MS-DOS.

An ActiveX plugin haven't been requested THAT many times though.. so i guess i should be nice.

  • Uum... i don't really get what it actually does. I get that it improves networking things, but exactly how...

  • I must say i'm a bit surprised that this game lagged. Even if there are many objects, I've allways thought that construct could take really much as long as it wasn't things like effects, physics, etc. This kinda scares me... but i guess there's ways to solve it.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I vote for splitting the "your creations" forum into "work in progress" and "Finnished" (or maybe something like "the lonely place with allmost none games... eccept a few, but they are really small" until we get the games flowing.)

Thats right Lucid! That's what you get for not having "sorry i speak englesh not god" after your post.

  • To hire an artist you need a budget... I don't know exactly what it costs, but I'm allmost positive i can't afford it.

The style used for samorost is just flipped out, and it's photos cut together with simple drawings. I really like that style in that game, but it's far from what I'm going for. 3D Isn't my thing either. I can't do it, and most times i don't like 3D graphics in 2D games.

I know the basics about lighting and colors, I just can't draw. So this photoshop thing might just work. I'll try with some other stuff and try to put together a mockup.

  • I've come to a point in the making of my game where i really feel that i would like to see how tings are going to look. I've been working only on the engine, but now is the time to start implementing some graphics. So i started thinking of how exactly i would do that. I've tried my best at pixel art some times, and it took me ages to get something better then crap. I really don't have the gift to paint or draw either, otherwise i would start drawing some scetches.

Then i realized that i'm a quite good photographer, and even though i can't really draw stuff in photoshop I'm quite good at editing them.

So i downloaded a random tree from google, and started playing around with the art-history brush. Here is the result.

It's not incredibly good, but MUCH over my drawing capacitys. But there are some problems. Usually i don't like games with High-res graphics, since it's impossible to match the characters and animated stuff with the quality of the other graphics. Seriously, braid is the only game i've seen where i actually liked high-res graphics. All effects and spells and weapon and HUD etc has to match too, and allmost no games manages to do that.

But if i would go for this. Are there any other good ways to create art-like graphics without actually being good at art?
