  • I think he was trying to make a joke. Look at the topic title.

  • The composer is slowly going to introduce realistic sounding music as the game progresses.

This will be used as a plot device.

You'll notice that the theme played during the first shot of action gameplay, as the the same theme as being played after showing our composers name. However, that is a more detailed and orchestrated version of the theme.

  • I'm still on the fence about the sine behavior usage as well...

But when I started this game I had decided that I would use the game boy aesthetic to my advantage:

I don't want to limit myself to the same technical limitations of the old handheld.

I'm going to ease players into it, but the game will take extraordinary license when it comes to graphics.

If it looks to odd though, I may just make an animation for the grass blowing...

  • A video of our upcoming game.

I already posted a screenshot, but I figure you may want to see before clicking

    Looking great!

    I'd be happy to help.

This genre of game isn't so hard really.

  • Nice one! Reminds me of Links Awakening, awesome style dude!

Thanks Thomas, that's what I'm going for

I just re-beat Links Awakening to get to the essence of the game.

  • Nice one Quazi!

    ...

Okay I think I'm ready to post Screenshots of my latest project.

The Screenshots have been resized by 50%, so if they look a bit small you know why.

It was designed to look like a Gameboy game, but It also uses all the modern features construct offers.

Like a green scale acid trip

I only hope they are not using what I think they are using to make that noise.

Cause if they are, that would be wrong on soooo many levels.

Big dog reminds me of this:

It would not look better with motion blur, It needs more frames, and overall better animation.

    .

While the animation may suck and it may need more frames, Godzilla would look better with motion blur. Motion blur is what makes it okay to watch a film in 24 frames a second. Since most games cannot do this easily (well...you know...) they must rely on 30 to 60 fps to do the blurring. With 60 frames going in a second the brain adds its own motion blur. Or so I have heard...

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I think Construct is actually less buggy than my experiences with MMF2 Though that was years ago... But MMF2 is like pile of crap... It has crappy performance and it's pretty much limited in few ways though it has lots of great plugins but well if you could make plugins to construct with those free programs we would have a hell lot more already!

Less buggy? I love construct and all, but I can count the times Fusion crashed on me on 1 hand...

Besides HWA (which they are working on) I never felt limited in MMF2 but I love the way the event systems looks/works in construct a bit more: It is a lot more readable, Plus you get more mileage out of eventsheets with construct.

  • It might be, but this idea would only work if the sprites was always "looking" at you.

Anyone who has played Super Smash Bros. and has seen the items would notice that the items are just "sprites" (2D textured planes that always face the camera).

I think it would be a lot of trouble for the developers, but a plug in that acted like the 3D box, but with the ability to "Map" a sprite to its coordinates would be cool.

  • [quote:2kxtxt9y]It's saving old .caps for me. You should post a bug report with that .cap or something.

Not me. not in all caps...

I thinks it must be a specific plugin/event/whatever that is preventing it from saving I'm going to experiment later by adding in stuff I use often than saving in .98 than going to .99...

Just think it'll make life easier for all of us...

  • It's probably just their pre-rendered concept video.

This team likes to make a CG video "faking" the game so that they have a goal to work towards.

Cool idea if you think about it, but the videos never look as good as the game (characters usually look funky)

    should be cool
