    This seems to work so progress. This is the scenario. I have a sprite that I want to set the frame to the same number as the second number in a variable. How do I do that. I can get a string but it needs to be set back to a number to be used in the set animation frame action

  • I use arrays in my game but this should be pretty simple. You can do it in a text by using mid(text,2,1) to collect the second letter so I hoped there was a simple way to do it in a number variable as well

    I have a small problem. If I have a variable called "score" and the value is f.e "1235"

    How do I collect what value the second number is? In this case 2

    I know about the "mid" expression in text but can't get it to work on a number variable.

  • The game is finally up on the Steam store. Even though the release is in October and the steam marketing hasn't even begun people poured in to the store page. So I totally misjudged the power off steam. I had a small announcement on the page about searching for beta testers and got bombarded with comments and emails. So now I have over 500 people requesting a beta key. But I guess most of them just want to collect a free steam game <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz">

    Anyway. The beta spots are full now but if anyone here on scirra wants to join I have some free keys for you. SO send a PM if you're interested.

    No not really. Everything works fine and the gamepad support is so much better in NW 12. But I haven't implemented achievements yet so when it's time for that I guess the problems will start. I sent you a PM with a steam key if you want to see how NW 12 handles steam out of the box

    I have the latest NW version but have the 0.3 Alpha Greenworks plugin and overlay works fine on steam if I add "--in-process-GPU" in the package.json

  • Yeah, I'm not a fan of apple and currently use android but apple users are more willing to pay for apps because they are used to have to pay for everything And the app store is miles ahead of google play with an actual quality control. Google play is sadly just 99.99999% crap and broken games.

    So if you go mobile then target iOS and you can release a android version as a bonus later.

    This is how I see the stores atm:

    Pros

    • quality control
    • users actually spend money
    • genre listings and functional top lists

    Cons

    • complicated submission process
    • looooong review time (3days-weeks) for every single update

    Google Play Pros and Cons

    Pros

    • simple submission
    • super fast update time

    Cons

    • no quality control at all
    • too easy to release rip off clones
    • almost no users pay for anything (if you're not already a well known studio)
    • Worthless translations of game descriptions to users local language even if you don't want it as a developer
  • You can use array with a 8 wide x and remove each number from the array as it gets picked. And when the array is empy you simply rebuild the array and start over.

    So when array is empty > set x 0 to 1

    set x 1 to 2

    set x 2 to 3

    etc etc.

  • I think you can export it with node webkit and then just rename the .exe file to .scr instead and it should act as a screensaver. Might be wrong though

  • Cipriux I felt the same when working with mobile. And if you finally would make an awesome game there will be hundreds of clones of it within days it gets popular and a clone finally becomes more popular than your original game

    C2 works really well for Steam but as you say not for consoles atm. Maybe Wii U works well? But I believe we will be able to atleast work with xbox one in the near future as they promised to make it possible to submit html5 games on their platform. And I've heard that if you make a windows 8 game you should be able to post it as it is? Might be wrong though.

    But Steam is great and I must say that platforms like itch and kongregate is much better than I expected. You can actually earn alot there if you have a fun game and get some exposure. Desura really suck in my opinion. Trying to remove my game from there but they won't answer my emails

    So there's alot of ways to make money with C2 but you have to have a good game first
