  • I'm making a game where when on level 1, you must click 1 white cake among a bunch of chocolate ones. There is one. And on level two, you must click two white cakes. And so on. But the code I've done is acting a bit randomly, ie the levels break at a certain point, usually level 7 or 8. And sometimes if it's for example level 4, it might show 3 cakes.

Here is all of the code:

By the way, there is only one layout, Layout 1. Levels are done through the global variable.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Run Layout 3 to play the game.

  • Okay, I sent you the game.

  • Framerate independent means the game works the same regardless of the number of frames per second the computer displays or is fast enough to display.

  • I better send you a Construct file of my latest game. I'll send it to you in 1-2 days.

  • Pixel perfick:

Here is some code I did:

    <img src="http://i50.tinypic.com/29z3i50.png" border="0" />

The code does things like checks whether it's a new level and if it is, deletes the enemies and creates new ones. The code shown isn't framerate-independent but yours will be.

I figure a metroidvania game would take me 40 hours of work. Which may take 2-4 weeks. Does that sound right for you?

  • Start learning Construct instead of c++. You can learn c++ later.

  • That is true. But I still wouldn't get something worse until you know what you need.

For the Android, you can get a mid spec Nexus 7 and be set. You could even get an Asus TF300T since it actually doesn't have more power, just a larger screen.

  • Post closed until the user buys a license.

  • I'm prett sure you just need macincloud, not an actual Mac.

  • I made a tablet buyer's guide thread in the Open Topic forum. You were one of the reasons for it, to help you.

I wouldn't recommend a Kickstarter though. It probably won't work out.

  • I've done my tablets research and figured there needed to be a thread where I recommended, based on that research, what tablets to buy. If I'm wrong about anything point it out, but I honestly don't think I am. I've looked at reviews and everything. Okay so:

For an Android tablet, don't settle for anything less than a Nexus 7 16gb for 200 bucks. It has a 7 inch screen and a maximum resolution of 1280x800. The next step up I would get is the Asus TF300T. At 350 bucks, it has a significantly larger screen and 32gb memory. If you really want to spend, the Nexus 10 32gb at 500 bucks is the most powerful Android tablet currently and has a maximum resolution of 2560x1600. While there is a Nexus 10 16gb at 400 bucks, it's really hard to find.

Right now for Androids, you want something with the Tegra 3 processor, or a Nexus 10. Except the Sony Xperia, it has a Tegra 3 processor yet doesn't perform well in the graphics department for some reason.

The Tegra 4 tablets should be coming out soon, and my recommendations may change at that point.

On the Apple side, if you're getting a tablet, get an iPad 4. Don't settle for a previous-generation iPad at this point, the iPad 4 is for example about twice as powerful as the iPad 3. The iPad 4 has a 2048x1536 maximum screen resolution and runs 500 bucks for the 16gb version.

  • Four.

  • Sorry. I'm on an iPad right now so my concentration is limited, between the lack of physical keyboard and other stuff.

I'm just kind of tired of discussing the subject. I wasn't at first but we have discussed everything now. Is it enough that I'll say I'll keep your comments in mind? Because I will. I still remember constructive criticism from years ago.

Besides being a novice game developer, who admittedly doesn't understand things like arrays until maybe when he goes to school, I'm also a technology buff. So asking for a Nexus 10 with the intent of trying it out, posting a review, and having a real game development reason for having one, doesn't really bother me. But I see your points, and I probably won't get bought a Nexus 10 due to your reasons being true and accurate. And oh well, it's not the end of the world, but if people were to chip in on it, I would still be grateful.

  • I'm forward-looking to this new game because I'm fairly passionate and optimistic about the project. While I have been passionate about projects before and they haven't turned out well, I've picked up on how to make a better game gameplay-wise. Even if some of the projects I play around with, like the one I posted the screenshot of, isn't' following them. I learned that two things I need to make a good game are action and combat. The second is optional but a great addition.

I think everyone has said what they needed to say though. I might still ask for donations despite of the points brought up but if I don't get any, I won't drive it into the ground.
