  • an ass-assin?

  • After playing through GTA IV that game looks rather sterile.

  • After playing through GTA IV that game looks rather sterile.

On the contrary. This game kills gta 4. Graphics arent quite as nice as gta but gameplay is superior... Plus more stuff to do and way better missions. Also you can do up cars and you dont lose them if they blow up or whatever. Clothing is a cool feature too so you dress up your character.

If you liked gta 4 then chances are you will love saints row 2.

I get angry with friends when they choose SR2 over gta 4

Both games have their strong points.

But it's more like, GTA is like a Lord Of the Rings billion-dollar-production, while SR2 is like a 100-dollar Blair Witch Production. - exeggerated.

Saints Row 2 (quality of graphics, story, voice-acting, engine) is good... in its own league.

GTA 4 is in a "higher" league.

    Then comes gameplay.

Ok, GTA 4 doesn't offer much. Saints Row 2 wins on replayability (especially coop missions!)

I like and play both games.

Personally I enjoy GTA 4 more, while driving around and doing nothing special (great graphics/lightning from time of day and weather that gives the city a mood).

    Oh 1 last thing:

    GTA 4 has ragdoll (euphoria-)engine.

But you can't grab or throw pedestrians

SR 2 has "regular" ragdoll effects

But you can grab and throw pedestrians

  • i didnt like gta4 as much as san andreas, i have no idea what SR is like.

why did you post a screenshot of a leg sticking through a cab door

  • People keep saying gameplay is lacking in GTA4.

I loved every single GTA game I ever played. Haven't tried 4 yet. Looks beautiful, hope it won't dissapoint.

Saints row looks like GTA with ZANY CHARACTERS, which I kinda hate. I'd give it a try though.

Because it's funny to carry bodies in your stolen car, and sometimes, when you hit the brakes, their limps go sticking out.

    This. LOL.

And, the characters are only as "zany" as you make them. You can have a quite serious looking character, or you can make them as stupid as humanly possible.

Also, GTA 4 really did suck in comparision, apart from the graphics. I didn't dislike GTA 4, but SR2 is definately a much better game all-round. The main thing that pissed me off the most about GTA 4 was having to entertain your borther and girlfriend etc every 5 seconds... though, driving while drunk was easily the coolest and most fun thing EVER in a "GTA style game".

  • What system is that on? It isn't PS3 or XBOX360 is it? From those screenshots the graphics look very last-gen, PS2 quality or something.

You can ignore the whole relationship part, even turning it off.

Walking while being drunk is even better!

  • Driving while drunk was pretty damn awesome .

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • You can drive drunk in both games (I think ).

I've played all the 3D GTAs too, and I have both SR and SR2.

For me, I was really looking forward to GTA4, and enjoyed it very much, but about half way through, the plot lost it's edge, as did the missions.

I think Rockstar rested on it's laurels a bit too much with GTA4, and having completed it, I prefer all previous versions (including the very average San Andreas).

So much so, I sold GTA4 as soon as it was complete, without really wanting to complete all the little extras.

As for Saints Row and Saints Row 2, the first one was a great effort, despite it's problems, and the second one was a marked improvement in almost every way.

I've completed Saints Row 4 times I think, and I've already completed Saints Row 2 twice since it's release.

More importantly, both versions of Saints Row are still on my shelf, and will no doubt get another outing before the year is out, whilst GTA4 is long gone.

Even the new downloadable episodes on XBOX Live aren't enough to make me go and pick up a second-hand version.

I was really looking forward to both GTA4 and SR2, but I personally feel that GTA4 dropped the ball and could have been a lot better, and Saints Row 2 was everything that I wanted GTA4 to be, and more.

Because of this, I am really looking forward to the next version of Saints Row (should there be one), but I'll need to be convinced that GTA5 will be worth bothering with.

    Sponge.

  • Driving while drunk was pretty damn awesome .

helping "The Truth" burn the weed was awesome, in SA lol

the screen got all wavy and stuff hehe

It's the PC version, which, by the way has improved textures and lighting over the console versions.

It's running in 1920x1200, 8xAA, full HDR lighting... no motion blur, because it sucks.

It just happens that SR2 doesn't have super fantastic graphics. They aren't THAT BAD, but there are a lot of games out there with better graphics that are around the same age, or even older. Honestly though, I couldn't give a toss about the graphics of a game if it has, say, some of the best gameplay ever... like SR2. Saying it looks "last gen" is a bit bullshit really...

Here is a screenshot of "last gen" graphics.... at 750x600 which is higher than the PS2 could output with moving graphics.

    <img src="http://andyontheroad.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/750px-gta3-pc-police.jpeg">

and Saints Row 2 on PC... at the same vertical resoltion, 960x600 (widescreen)

Graphics aren't everything, though they still whoop the shit out of a PS2...

If I want to make my character look like an emaciated gimp crossdressing YMCA loving hooker flasher midget, and jump out of a plane naked to land ass first in the face of an old granny... Saints Row 2 is the game to play.
