Some of you may have gone through my Udemy courses (thank you for that). I enjoy teaching and one of the things that constantly comes up on these forums is how to monetize our games on mobile devices, especially using CocoonJS.

I am going to start putting together a course that will hopefully help a lot of people out. Please let me know if there are other things you would be interested in having a video tutorial on. This course will not be designed to show you how to make mobile games or how to optimize your games for mobile.

Everything will deal with CocoonJS as I still find it the most consistent and it's what I have been working with the longest and have had very little issue with it.

    1. Dealing with multiple screen sizes using Scale Outer.

    2. Working with Ads through Mopub+adMob. (If there is another supported ad network you would like to learn about, let me know).

    3. Getting gamecenter setup and working.

    4. Getting inApp purchases working

    5. Getting google game services working.

    6. Working with Appcod.es to pick out keywords for your apps to help get found on the app stores.

    7. How to use Eclipse debug to check for errors in your ad setup. (android only)

I'm still working out the outline for the course, so please chime in! I feel like a lot of this information is missing and I don't feel like it's Scirra's responsibility to spend time gathering that information.ArcadEd2014-02-13 16:44:09

  • That all sounds very helpful! can't wait to see it! :)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • That would be awesome! I'm looking forward your course!

  • This sounds great ArcadEd!

I have been casually making things in C2 for about a year now but I'm finally making a job for the app stores and these all sound right up my alley on things I'm coming across that having some good information would be much easier.

Definitely information about (other than what you already have mentioned):

-CocoonJS premium and the CocoonJS splash screen?

    -Available extensions with CocoonJS (premium)

-Any problems ever come up with your testing version on the CocoonJS app compared to how it works when you finally use CocoonJS to compile your final version

  • Great initiative ArcadEd <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle">

I'm interested in this ... Also I have a few questions:

    1. Can I use Pode's HTML Pack Plugin instead of integrating various Ads plugins ? The game would load the Ads code from my site/server so I could easily change the Ads content serverside without the need of updating the game <img src="smileys/smiley14.gif" border="0" align="middle">

    2. Can I make only one build of the game that would contain the code for various IAP stores (the game will detect the OS and will use only the code for that platform) ? And if I can, is it recommended this method ?

I don't mind to have more builds, but it will be harder to update several builds instead of only one (especially bigger updates).

Also, I am interested to see the new features of CocoonJS (last time I used it had issues with scale modes and Facebook/Clay.io plugins) and how it competes against Intel XDK and Crosswalk <img src="smileys/smiley16.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • . Getting google game services working.

ArcadEd - You ever got this to work? If so, I'm very interested to see how you got this working..

  • Yes I want to participate

  • Thanks for all the feedback guys, I'm writing down all the suggestions so I have a nice list to go off of as I start to outline the course.

  • I just want to say thank you to ArcadEd for all of these helpful courses! I am just starting out with C2 and so many of your lessons have already helped me improve greatly. Looking forward to this one for sure!

  • cant wait for this!!

and please include iAd + Mopub :)

  • ArcadEd, you've got one future student here <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I know it has nothing to do with C2, but if you would be so kind as to share some experience in getting your game out there, such as with publishers or going solo, that would be fantastic. Of course I don't expect you to just throw your inside contact and secret information out there, just a few pointers on what to do, expect and prepare would be nice. Just thought it would be a perfect ending with your course.

  • rekjl He (@ArcadEd) posted a pdf with a lot of that info in it on another thread, I just can't find the link currently.

  • It would be awesome !

  • Thanks BluePhaze, I didn't know that.

ArcadEd, thanks so much! It is always motivating to see what is achievable with hard work and a bit of creativity <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
