• Aurel

looks really nice man Does it have an impact on performance or why should it be optional?

  • Looks ok on the performance side, but as it needs a frame to hide the distortion on the borders, I'm making sure people can desactivate it : )

  • Looks great. Thanks for sharing.

  • DOWNLOAD, two flavors!

(SHADER) original mode7 with alpha channel fixed:

(SHADER) same, but optimized for fullscreen usage (faster!):

What's the difference between them, except that one have fix alpha channel and other is faster?

Faster one does'n not work with alpha channel?

  • (the faster one has alpha channel fixed, too. But will not work for a tiled effect)

  • I"m only using this mode7 shader like a fullscreen effect, on the top of the game.

This is not a "real" mode 7 engine, so, I guess I can't help on this one, sorry : )

  • This is really neat and performs well! But something concerns me; how would someone map sprites onto this to follow the pseudo 3D? this would open up a world of possibilities if we could do that

Has anyone found any convenient way to map sprites?

  • To position objects the math in the shader is reversed, and it comes out kind of complicated.

Change the m7x and m7y variables of the obj sprites to change their locations.

Wow! That is absolutely great. You are a living legend R0J0hound!

  • FYI

The full screen effect xml is giving an error message that its a duplicate id.

Also the meta fields seem to show data for one of R0J0hound's other fx.

I say that as the directions from the template say to never change the id.

    Kind of confusing actually.

  • Other than having to reverse the left and right controls when enabling mode 7 are there any other tips and tricks you have for working with it?

  • Here's an example file of what I'm trying to do with mode7. I'm not sure if its at all possible so i thought i'd ask Aurel and R0J0hound

Is there a way to get one object on another layer to follow another object on a layer with mode 7 applied to it?

see demo below: I'm trying to get the blue square to follow the position of the green square below it

    Thanks for the help

  • Wow this is awesome!

  • Can you add install instructions? It's a PITA having to look where to put these files everytime, considering there are 3 methods to install "plugins" =\

  • I notice this shader now has ugly looking solid lines around the edge of the image with C2 r198 at least with a 256x256 image. Are there any settings I'm messing up that should be set a certain way for this shader to display right?

EDIT: It appear setting the sampling to linear causes this issue after I had further time to test. It appears to work fine in point sampling mode but I can't use point because my trees that sway in the breeze look crappy with point sampling. =X And plus this still wasn't an issue for me before as I'd been using linear sampling for a while with the mode 7 effect.
