  • You can past multiple objects. If they are all sprites, you can add them to a family and paste in one action.

    > The second option sounds intriguing but wouldn´t it just take the "low res" screenshot then and scale it up to the bigger resolution, making everything blurry?

Well, Construct isn't really suited for this task. You can zoom everything in before pasting on the canvas if you want to make a higher quality snapshot.

Ohh that sounds like a good idea then, as they are all sprites! :-)

Anyway... I guess I just have to build a prototype and then hire someone for that piece of work. I want it to be safely implemented, as I´d love to build some of these configurators and yeah... I´m not so much of a programmer :-)

  • You can instead use a drawing canvas with fixed resolution and paste the images on the canvas. Say, set canvas resolution to 500x500, resize it to the image size, then paste, then use "DrawingCanvas Save Image" action. The resulting PNG should be 500x500 px.

Or, if there are too many objects to paste - make a snapshot, load it into a sprite, paste the sprite onto the canvas.

It will be several objects... think of a character generator, that allows you to change weapons, armor, hair... and all the values for strength etc.

This should then be printed on A4 which makes the resolution necessary.

The second option sounds intriguing but wouldn´t it just take the "low res" screenshot then and scale it up to the bigger resolution, making everything blurry?

Feels like there must be some sort of code snippet or something for it, but I´m more of a designer than a coder. :-P

  • Hello everyone,

I want to make some kind of image generator using C3 and use the screenshot feature for it (or any other solution that´s maybe better?)

My idea was to disable the UI, make a screenshot and enable it again.

So when setting this up, the download of the image works fine, but the screenshots resolution is based on my resized window and not on the actual canvas I´m working in.

    How can this be achieved?

I´m glad for any help on this!

  • Ohh interesting.

    Will test that! Thanks Ashley.

  • Try using the Platform Info object's 'Request wake lock' action.

I tried that but it does not work I guess... I mean... is this all I have to do?

  • Hello there,

as written in the other question, I´m currently developing a little point tracker/companion for an offline game.

Unfortunately, whenever I run it on mobile, my mobile´s sleep mode kicks in when I don´t touch it for a while.

How can one disable that as long as the page is executed?

Looking forward to your answers. And thanks in advance!

  • Hi everyone,

I’m currently developing a companion app/point tracker for a physical card game. The app includes a tug-of-war style point marker and a virtual dice roller.

I’ve tried uploading it to itch.io and Scirra Arcade, but I’m running into issues with fullscreen mode on mobile. The C3 built-in "Request Fullscreen" feature doesn’t work at all on mobile once the app is uploaded to the platforms. Even enabling the system fullscreen button provided by itch.io doesn’t seem to have any effect.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue or implement fullscreen functionality that works reliably on mobile for these platforms?

    Best,

    Beaver

  • Hello there,

currently coming back into Construct for a new project idea I´d love to create. Some kind of story-driven lil adventure. :-)

As I´m planning to have a ton of different layouts to navigate through the story, I was wondering what´s the easiest and most efficient way to have a fade-to-black mechanism inbetween layouts on a global level.

Like applied once and triggered whenever I change layouts.

    Thanks for any help.

    Rob

  • Honestly...

I´m actually more than impressed how well Construct is doing and how Scirra managed to expand their team from being a two people company to a real team.

Owning a SME myself I know how hard that is! Congrats guys. No need to compare with anyone :-)

  • I'd recommend using the Hash expression of the Browser object. For example you could set it up so if someone visits example.com/index.html#settings, it goes directly to the Settings screen rather than the usual title screen.

    Ohhh sounds cool.

Can hashes be used in QR-Codes as well? Not sure about how they are generated.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Hello ROJO,

nice to see that you are still around. :)

Right after posting my initial thoughts on this I did some more research into the 3D feature and found some posts like yours that it´s not as easy as I hoped it would be.

Maybe I will go for a 2D implementation as 3D would be a nice feature but no necessity.

I also like the idea of automatization of some basic things with easy code and will see how far I can go with it without loosing on the "boardgame-feel" to much.

I guess the hardest part will be to make a cool drawing tool box in C3. Did some research here as well and there seems to be no Plug-n-Play solution yet.

Well maybe I can find some example game or template online.

    Will keep you updated. :-)

  • Hello everyone,

haven´t been here for a long time, but was a heavy user of C2 many moons ago.

In the recent years I was mainly active in Boardgame Design, which I really enjoy as it is not so heavy related to programming skills (which I don´t have besides Construct and which always limited me) but which can benefit from my design background. :-)

So I created like 20 different Roll and Write Games, continuesly growing. Here ´s a definition of what a Roll and Write game is for all that don´t know.(https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/213815/roll-and-write-games)

Stumbling over the new C3 3D-feature (because of the possibility to create rolling dice) I was directly hooked again by the idea to turn these games into a digital version that you can play on your tablet.

No complex calculations, just the drawing feature of C3 as well as some dice which can be rolled and placed on some places on the board.

A recreation of an analog game into a web-app that I can play and offer on tablets etc. Pretty much what Tabletop-Simulator does.

Now my questions regarding the "sandbox":

As all games are quite similar, I would love to create some kind of sandbox which includes the core mechanisms, so that I just have to change the background, music, some effects and maybe 2-3 placeable objects (drag and drop cards, circles...) and dices for every game.

Core mechanics would be drawing (with changeable colors, erasing etc.) as well as dice of course. The amount varies from game to game and they need to be rollable and placeable on the game matte as they sometimes represent stats etc.

How do I set up an project like this?

My goal would be to have a website page for each of these games, where you can click and it instantly loads.

Do I make one game from it with different layouts for each game?

Do I make a separate game for each of the roll and writes to have less data to proceed?

If so is it possible to later merge C3 games together if I ever decide to put them back into one App or whatever?

Are there any good sources or template files for the drawing and dice roll/placement mechanic already?

Before I start something I would really love to tackle this project the right way, so that it is a solid base to work on. :-)

Looking forward to your answers and to dig into Construct again!

    Cheers,

    Rob
