  • Thanks for the advice oosyrag!

I'll follow up here once all this has finished, but I found this service which seems to take care of the grunt work (for a reasonable fee).

  • Forgot to mention this in the first question:

What about people hacking my game to unlock stuff without paying?

  • So essentially, it's not worth it? That's kind of the conclusion i've come to, but I thought I would put it forward to the community to see if anyone has had any horror stories and past regrets.

I've heard that Nintendo is one to fear when it comes to litigation. I've done my best to avoid potential problems, but due to their track record, i'm just a little worried. My graphical style is based upon their old GB games, but the actual game itself is completely unique.

I suppose I can hold off on these worries until I become an App billionaire. I'll hit you guys up when that happens. 💰💰💰

  • Hiya all,

Was wondering if anyone has knowledge about copyrighting, trademarking, intellectual properties, and all that jazz?

    1. Has anyone tried getting a trademark on their game's title? What about protecting the game's 'idea'?

    2. Is it worth it? I've been illegally downloading stuff since I first got onto the interwebs, so I know it's kind of a waste of time.

    3. My game has style that is somewhat similar to Pokemon, but none of the assets are actually taken or ripped from the game. Should I be worried about getting sued?

    Thanks team,

  • Your game has a really cool color scheme! I love those pastels.

The first thing that comes to mind, is maybe you could try specifying the UID of the 'tree slime'. I think right now, it just triggers all enemies of that type when the player walks under the boxes. Specifying the UID or the XY coordinates might do the trick.

I was just thinking about this today actually! Is there a better way to go about doing this? I have a small but fatal bug in my code and I dont know where to look, so i'm going to have to go into the debugger and play around.

Before I do this and waste a bunch of time, is there a way to get a 'print out' or look at what code ran when? I know I could go in and make an event that writes each step into a text file or something, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do this for each event. Is there something i'm missing here?

  • I have a similar problem, I want to test the version of Construct, but I can not see anything when I click preview, the window opens, but the game does not start, is black screen.

If the debug window opens, but its just displaying a blank void of nothingness, then it probably has something to do with your code and not our trusty crusty Construct engine.

If you'd like, you can post some of the initial script and we can see whats going on.

  • Thanks for the response guys! I will look into the Google trusted web activity thing. Appreciate the advice.

  • I think the 100 bucks for an annual plan is pretty fair, considering how many updates we get.

  • Done! Good luck bro. The game looks aawwweeesssooommmmeeeee

  • I have been developing a game, with the intention of porting it from Construct to the Android App store. It would be nice if I could upload a 'portal' APP. The portal would then boot up the actual game, which is stored on my icho account, or something.

    Is this possible?

If that explanation doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to clarify it a little more.

  • This is what I am needing. I am making a hidden object game, so when an object is touched, I want it to disappear and 10 points added to the score. When all 10 objects are found and score equals 100, I want it to trigger the next scene. How do I make that happen?

    1. [layout] Have 10 sprites set at 0% opacity (invisible).
    2. [event] 'On Clicked Object (invisible sprite)' > Destroy sprite & add 10 to 'points' variable
    3. [event] 'points' variable = 100 > Go to 'next' layout

The main issue is I have a start button that I want to open the first scene and I don't even know how to do that either. I know some sort of variable has to be created for a score but I am not sure where to start with that. I suppose basically, How would I get started with this hidden object game because I am totally stuck?

    1. [layout] one layout for the start button
    2. [event] on 'start button' clicked > go to '10 sprites' layout
