  • While we're on the subject...what about making tilemaps center-oriented? Right now you can't resize them without screwing up your tiles :T

Yes! tilemaps are very useful for all kind of stuff not just the plain simple backgrounds!

I'm posting my modified plugins if some of you would like to use them (well as always all credits goes to R0J0hound - code is from his Paster plugin). Simply replace them, and do not worry they won't break anything. Just remember that they need to be replaced again after installing new C2 release - if Ashley won't add them of course.

Oh and I'm using SpriteFont+ and this one is in the pack (only because there's no need to write any events for character settings) - and again have no idea why this can not be merge into one plugin. I never used official SptireFont again since SF+ was published.

  • Tiled Background, 9patch, Spritefont, Text. Why all of this objects can have hotspot only on Top-Left and Center?

For many releases now I've been modifying official plugins just to get more hotspots options. And it's very annoying to do so on every new release.

Yes i know I should not modify official plugins, but for something simple like this it's just not worth for making a separate plugin.

Ashley please can you add this?

Adding all hotspot possibilities: Top-Left, Top, Top-Right, Left, Center, Right, Bottom-Left, Bottom, Bottom-Right takes about 1,5 minute for each object. There are no compatibility problems or other strange issues (some of them I've modified while working on a project, and been using it for few months now and never experience any of strange behaviors).

Don't need to tell anyone how this makes life a lot easier.

  • What kind of "fog effect"?

For simple ones you can make a layer none transparent and lower the opacity, or use screen sized tiled background, or sprite, or my "fog" shader. All depends on what kind of effect you want to achieve.

  • Problem Description

Moving or copying collapsed events around will uncollapse them all automatically.

    Description of Capx

    Bunch of mostly empty events.

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • Select all collapsed sub-events from "On start of layout"
    • Move or copy/paste them to different place

    Observed Result

All subevents that were collapse at first are automatically uncollapsed after changing their place.

    Expected Result

Collapsed events should stay that way.

  • It's worth remembering some of the tests from the jerkiness thread (I think) which demonstrate that there are overheads associated with creating objects in addition to the video memory used. The conclusion there was reusing sprites was far more efficient than creating and destroying them.

Yes, that is true and you should alway recycle your objects if you can. But sometimes you need only "one use" objects. And if that kind of object been used by player or whatever it will not show anymore in current layout. So there is no need to keep it in memory.

Like in my background example. I want some objects only for few ticks and after that they are not needed anymore. I don't really care about jerkiness on start of the layout because level is creating at this specific moment.

  • Yeah, sorry about that, I've looked in to it and it's a real pain. Our UI library is a big black box of another company's code and modifications can be really painful. I last looked some time ago though, I'll try investigating again and see if there's any other workarounds we can do.

Ashley could you please also think about some better differentiation in tabs between layouts and event sheets. I'm using simple prefix for event sheets and layout names [E]EvenSheetName and [L]LayoutName but it's a bit tedious to do that every time when i add something. Small icon or something like that would do.

Hey guys could you send me you capx files?

I've made it and been using it since r185 all works fine for me. I had no opportunity to test it on r184 personally but my testers never had and have any problems with it.

Even now I just test it on my current r188 and asked few guys to test it on r184 - every thing you said works for me and for them... So it is a bit strange.

  • This should help.

  • Really don't know why you keep calling me rude. I did not post anything bad or offensive. Simply asked you a question which for some reason instead of giving me a straight answer you turned into "something else".

"...you just won't hear me out for some reason, and won't think about a few things you really should know about"

We only saying that there's a faster and better ways to convert 3d models into 2d images and for some reason you are the one who won't listen to us and keep insisting "your ways of doing things".

    1. If they don't want to learn 3d app then why did they should learn Unity? Rule is the same, import 3d model - > save it. You can do it in unity with few clicks without knowing the program, and you can do it in any 3d app on same basis.

    2. Are you serious on this one?

    3. Ok.

    4. No. There are literally more then dozen websites from where you can get (free or paid) 3d models (static or animated) or whatever you want.

    5. No idea where this comes from, no one ever said things like that on this post - except you in your post.

    6. I don't think anyone would want to download and install any other game engine just to buy some models from their store to make 2d images from them...

    7. And now you want them to actually start learning how to use Unity just to export this animations....

We are all very welcoming and always open to people from "other engines". There is no hate, envy, jealous or whatever. If you know this forum you should know that already that this is the most polite forum off all game makers out there.

But for some reasons unknown to me only you keep calling people rude and jerks only because, like I said above don't want to do things you want them to do.

  • It should not, What debugger shows when this object is spawned?

  • Inversion

hehe yeah... But you put your ads to make some money, because you usually think your game is "the one" and best of all. In reality you end up very far from that
