  • There are free options: the Intel XDK costs nothing. The Cordova CLI is free too, but is a more complicated setup.

    > Yes of course Native Exportation would be better.

    >

Not necessarily: if development is 5x slower than it is now as we have to maintain 5 platforms separately, and due to the quirks of each platform each individual feature is only supported over a random selection of platforms making porting constantly a huge headache, and some features are entirely missing or incompatible with their browser equivalents, and some platforms face awkward bugs that others don't, then the end result is not necessarily even better than what we have now. None of this is hypothetical, other products on the market with this approach face these problems. If you add up all those other problems, is it really better? Then throw in the colossal engineering effort it takes to even get started on this...

It also won't necessarily remove the difficulty of configuring certificates, setting up provisioning profiles etc. All of that you still have to go through for native apps too, and that can be a big part of the pain of setting up mobile publishing.

I seriously wonder when the last time you used Intel XDK and third party plugins like cranberry's and witnessed the headaches?

  • This is the link that Google Play gave me:

    https://support.google.com/faqs/answer/6325474

    That link is useless.

Once again, it's nothing that we can do until Intel updates XDK with an updated version of CLI that has an updated version of Cordova.

  • Basically, Intel needs to release CLI version 5.4.1 to correct the issue. Don't know the timeframe on when they're gonna release that. We're currently on 5.1.1 which has an outdated version of Cordova..

  • Try Construct 3

  • Anyone can buy games or apps on Flippa. Most buyers aim for the already established apps that's making monthly revenue.

Many successful apps have been sold on Flippa.

When you buy an app, you buy up to a year's worth of revenue.

    For example..

If that app is makin $300 a month from Admob, then that app should sell between $3,000-$3,600

  • Jan 2016 was a lazy month for me. I didn't really do anything and took a break mostly, but I still made a couple of bucks passively (mainly Scirra Store..)

  • MongoDB is an api, not an online server. User still need to have it's own server.

Ah OK, now I see where it's own server comes from.

  • Parse will shutdown fully on Jan 28th, 2017, so this plugin will be fully useless. Now if we can get a MongoDB plugin.

  • For the provisional profile to publish on iOS, you will need to make a production provisional profile anyway. So just skip out making the Adhoc and create a provisional production profile under your Apple account. I recommend you also setup check the "Fullscreen" option as well.

  • Now I understand why there are 100+ versions of Clash of Clans

    Ouais

    And Candy Crush lol.

    Thanks for your reply.

Do you sell few times the same game or is there an exclusivity on flippa?

In other words, are you allowed to use the source code again when you have sold it on flippa?

    Ouais

It's my code that I've written, so in the end I make the call on what I want to do with it. If a purchaser doesn't want to accept this, then they don't have to bid. If I made it where I couldn't reuse my source code, then this app flipping business would be useless. I reuse the same code and use different graphics. When I sell the game, they have full rights to their app including source code and they can resell if they want.

  • Hello,

Thanks for sharing. Very interesting for newbies to get an idea on earning from making apps.

However, you make it sound easy and "passive" while it's not.

Most of your incomes come from your freelance work. Which is not passive I assume.

As you have to sell a good story on your blog to sell your products, I won't blame you

Btw, are you selling your apps through flippa because it's more profitable than publishing them on stores with admob?

For those apps, I also assume that you purchase cheap apps which don't look nice and replace the graphics to make them nicer and resell them with a good margin. Quite clever

I'm not here to criticize, troll or whatever, just want to exchange with someone transparent enough to speak about money

    Ouais

Oh it's definitely not easy to make the money passively every month. It never will be.

I sell my apps on Flippa because its indeed more profitable than myself publishing them myself with ad networks like Admob, Chartboost, etc.

As far as purchase other's cheap app source code, maybe 10% of the time. Most of the time, I've used stuff that I've developed myself awhile back and replace the graphics. I don't like to the spend money when I don't have to.

    > No, I meant that the file size of the app will be about 20 mb. Surely if you add a lot of big images or sounds the file gets bigger.

    > But the minimum size is about 20 mb.

    >

Thanks ! do you know if there's a maximum size to publish to iOs ?

    2gb...

You can reduce the size of Intel XDK exported apps by changing the Crosswalk Runtime to "Shared" under your app's build settings in Intel XDK. You will have to install the Crosswalk Runtime later on your phone after someone installs your app.
