  • Never ever used Linux but I guess I can ask my guy for some pointers. haha.

  • Very original idea! impressive! Polish it further!

  • Thanks.

So I understand it correct you need to install OS inside? (hard disk size issue)

  • Hello. Long time no see.

I would love to have your inputs on how to simulate a slower computer to test C2 game.

Before I upgraded my computer I had computer that was about 7 years old (but not low budget, it was good for its time, it was gamer computer from 7 years ago) and I spot bugs in the game I am working on. Now having faster computer the bugs are gone. It is not good because I want people with a little slower computers and mobiles be able to play game without the bug. The bug will render the gameplay unplayable.

I am not too keen to pull out things from computer physically for just testing purposes, that has to be said.

I have a feeling it is the cpu because it has to go through lots of array usage and iterations every 0.2 second.

  • I do not think C3 is coming out that soon. So no worry, you can buy it now. C2 that is.

  • C2 gui is hard to customize. So I think you will have to wait until C3 to even get a chance. I am waiting for many features that are obvious and should have been included but they explained that C2's gui is very hard to modify..

C3 will be based on another gui base so it will hopefully be easier to modify. And maybe hope for more user-based modficiations.

  • If it is about flood filling simple figures you can make the parts out of sprites (with alpha) and one black outline on top of it. Then you use Effect, Set Color to colorize that shape.

But as soon as the figure contains of lots of fields it will be sprite heavy, though.

All of what you mentioned can be made in C2. Some might require plugins, some other easy peasy.

  • I think you have to wait for C3 to come for this to happen. C2 is still main title.

  • I would just report the post (the warning triangle) and eventually it will be cleaned. They are human too.

  • Sometimes you have to think....

Be glad you do not have to buy machine embroidery digitizing software! Embird is a good example.

They update once a year, and every other year they call it a major upgrade that we have to pay for. The changelog is like 5 to max 10 items per update and mostly bug fixes. So basically what Ashley cover in a minor update is same amount as for Embird in their paid upgrade!

The software itself looks like it is firmly stuck in the mid of 90's too with useability in similar level. But I have to use because I paid thousands of SEK for that software + plugins (that should be part of software itself like importers and true type font) and that there's not too many to choose between...

    This put things in perspective.

But with that said, of course we want the best.

  • Quick question: If you upload a game to the arcade will people be able to download the capx or can you do so that no one can do it?

(maybe it is obvious that I have never uploaded)

Oh wow this has been a while ago. Thanks for your addition. I don't work with C2 right now, swamped with other works. But i will try to remember your post when I do comeback.

  • Yes, better support for people who paid for the software, easy to check by the medal icon of forum avatar.

But at same time, I want to see dev time.. It is simply needed that Scirra has a team of at least 6 people... I love Construct 2 and the concept and the site itself, it has a little sense of action (the contest and the badges) but I think that the copies/buyers/fans has outgrown the team size. I feel like Scirra still treat C2 as a tiny indie project (the small 1 developer 1 pr/website) but still business/paid license seriousness at same time. You can't have both.

I am not dissing the guys. Ashley and Tom are awesome! It is just the going way....

  • Ashley

I only have one thing to say, please do not use "then" because just like you say, If..then. It would confuse me heavily if I was newcomer. (with the if..then in mind)

    "On done" feels better.

  • I was about to reply but jayderyu said what I wanted to say.

Programming is to give the computer a set of instructions it can execute. (that's the basic meaning of "program", read some old books on computer from 70's )

We can do that with the events, so yes you are a programmer.

But a "coder" on other matter... Sometimes I feel I want something to replace "coding"... Sometimes I say "Eventing"
