  • It would be really nice to be able to change the source of your actions without having to press back and also reset all the actions as well.

1: When you use the create object action you first select which object you want to create, my suggestion is have also another option to use expressino method, instead select an object you write what you want like in the Python script of Construct1

2: more options in the system object, like an action 'move layer(n) X' and Y, this way people can make automatic scroll of a background, there is a lot of place for improvement here.

Cant you do no.1 already with the system command create object? I havent used it yet but I thought that what it was for.

No.2 sounds pretty awesome to me.

  • Well, after doing a couple of tests, the file size in the end was only a a couple of kb lighter going through Audactiy.

The only positive is that when Construct had a hard time formatting some of my bigger sound files to a lesser quality (when it comes up with an error saying it wasnt formatted), I found it worked when I reduced the quality in Audactiy first.

  • That was a good watch, cheers.

  • Hey Ashley thanks for the input,

To be honest I havent checked the size of the sound files when exported yet, but my assumption was that I could further save filesize by making them as small as possible before importing them into C2.

Am I doing all this work for nothing perhaps?

  • Been doing some research.

Thought I would share a link to some beginner information for those of us not familiar.

    books.google.com.au/books

    Bottom of p381 and p382.

Still not sure how much of the sound I want to stream, perhaps only the music.

Edit : The way you apply the chart is by importing your sounds into your sound editor (Audacity is free) and then changing the sample rate and then exporting the sound again.

  • There is a gauntlet type game i remember playing, its quite good actually - Underhill.

  • That effect is really nice, i wasnt getting much lag.

  • I suggest to take a look at some tutorials, what your trying to achieve really isnt very hard, you just need an understanding of how events work and what each behaviour does.

Make yourself a cup of Coffee and take a look at the manual ;)

  • Sounds like an interesting problem, have you tried to reduce the project to a base (just with the movement controls) to make sure its not coding related?

Providing a Cap.x will get you help quicker (I know this from experience, lol).

  • Hey Aaron,

I honestly think that you should finish this game (simple or fancy as you would like it) and then move on to your rpg. The reason i say this is because i can see that your still learning the program (I am too) and a platformer seems like an easier task.

My first project was/is a strategy game, but i put that on hold to release a platformer first and Im really glad i did as I have learnt so much in process.

Once you have a bit more experience you can tackle your real passion, the rpg :)

  • The unrealism is supposed to be in Video game, do you agree? because it involves fun due to absurd reasons. Compared to realistic game what you need to refill fuel, change the tires, go to pit to repair, you need to start engine again when it stopped engine, overall about realism is a pain in common sense, what do you think?

There is a lot of resources out there for (CC) free sounds, one ive been checking out is called soundbible.com.

Yeah I agree with you regarding the realism, the one thing about car games though is the expectations people have before they play, the predetermined expectation of how the car will move - but maybe im just too nitpicky :)

Look forward to your future work.

  • My antivirus strongly advised me not to go to this website, are you sure the link is ok?

  • Hey rfisher,

Couldnt seem to get the ball to attach the the swing, my experience of your game was hit the up arrow like a maniac. couldnt get him to the platform in the corner.

Are you happy with the the way the ball is moving at the moment?

  • Sorry for the late feedback on this one Joannesalfa, its quite good.

I really like the look of the arcade machine and that the instructions are in clear view the whole time. Graphically, its pretty good, i love how the car gets beat up the more you crash!

Criticism wise, the sound of the car reminds me of an old fridge or a broken tv - it just kind of 'buzzes', could use a better sound as it is what you will be hearing the entire time you play.

The only other thing was i felt my car was sliding unrealistically, this is not so much a problem though because its still fun.

    Good work mate.

    Haha :)

Quite an enjoyable game, I enjoyed it much more then the previous. Best of luck on Kongregate Geo.
