  • Thank you again for creating Construct tutorials which I like very much.

I like to make maze solving games, like mazes and labyrinths. But I am struggling in creating a random maze with pitfalls, doors, keys, objects. I studied some mathematic routines on how to construct a labyrinth structure, but fail to implement it in Construct.

So a tutorial on creating a random maze in Construct would be great for me.

If this is not possible, I will still have the same respect for you. Please do not feel obligated to my wish.

I appreciate your efforts very much to create tutorials and share your knowledge with us.

    Have a great day!

    Chris

For a licence holder of C2, the first year is half price. I think it is a very good deal knowing that the first year will be a kind of extended test phase.

Like me, just give it a try. I believe C3 will be a great game development tool.

  • When you use Construct 3 in a window, as described in the Scirra blogs, it is just like using C2.

You are correct Ashley, people with a positive attitude towards C3, see where Scirra is heading.

I can only congratulate the whole Scirra team for their nice team work. Construct 3 is worth the long wait for it.

I will buy a subscription from the moment it becomes available.

  • Lucky,

You are a very helpfull person and believe me when I say that your level of knowledge of the English language does not matter.

This is a multi-cultural community and we all have very different backgrounds. My english is also very limited especially when I have to speak it.

By the way, based on what you wrote, I find your english good. I am sure everybody understands what you write.

Keep up the good work! I look forward to your next tutorial updating the photo album.

  • Very nice tutorial, a work very well done!! Thank you very much for sharing your creativity with us.

I have one suggestion to improve your tutorial. I find the music somewhat distracting. I think it is better to lower the volume of the music or give the option to switch it off. Why not commenting on the steps you are doing? It will add a very personal touch to your tutorials. Many people will like that, such as myself.

Scirra should hire your talented services. You are doing a very good job for our community and for Construct 3. Your work is very much appreciated!!! I am sure many people want to see more of your work.

    Chris

I will pay a subscription from the moment Construct 3 gets out of beta stage and will become available.

I like what I see in the free beta edition and because of the poor internet in Botswana, was very concerned if the offline mode really works. It works greatly even with the internet off.

For me, Construct 2 and when it becomes available Construct 3 will be a great game development tool. Also it will make it safer with our daughter of 8 to use it, because is nothing to install, works right in the browser.

  • Today I tested the offline use of Construct 3. I thought it was not still available.

To my happy surprise I could open Construct 3 without any internet connection.

Great work Scirra! I am impressed.

  • When I first saw Construct 3 running inside the Chrome browser, I was a little bit sceptical. However, I have to say it is stable here, but I only was browsing and looking to the user interface.

then I played the Kiwi game, just to see how the new engine was performing. I received an error that not all features where supported by the free version of C3 (which is normal warning).

I found the Kiwi game performing better than I expected before. I was afraid that the Chrome browser would influence Construct 3 performance. That was not the case, at first sight I do not see anything slowing down.

Saturday, I will meet my companion because we like to workout a new game idea. We will see if we can use C3 for this new game. Nevertheless, we prefer the full paid subscription version, which we use the moment it becomes available.

Maybe following a tutorial first to see where that leads us. Especially a tutorial written for the free version of Construct 2.

It seems logical to me first test the free version. It may look now C2, however keeping things simple gives Scirra the possibility to fix bugs and improve the initial edition much easier. I look forward to see more features appearing near the end of the beta cycle.

I am sure Construct 3 will be an ever developing product. I like very much what I see in Construct 3.

  • I am glad to elaborate Zebbi.

Do you know any other application you can work the way you do in Construct?

Since november last year I have severe disabilities on my left hand, which make using it painfull and difficult. Nevertheless my right hand is fine.

Because of the event and behaviours and how they are implemented I still an use Construct without any problem. Just by using a pressure sensitive drawing tablet, I can work as before, doing everything right handed. The same is true for Affinity Designer, I remain using it as before, except now I use a pen instead of the touchpad and keyboard on the laptop.

I have read every blog Scirra created and I tell you, we will not see the last invention of Construct 3.

Just like you, I do not find Google Chrome a very good choice because of privacy reasons and their NSA support. I would prefer it that we can also use C3 in FireFox, Edge, Opera and I believe in the future we will.

Nevertheless, have to use Chrome will not keep me from making games with C3 for our small daughter. Also because of my disability, I am thinking of making games for others to play too. I like to teach or small one how to make them herself. She is very much away with Construct too.

Like you said it yourself, on this moment and hopefully in the future, Construct is the best tool to use for 2D game creation.

  • For me it doesn't matter if a tool is addressed to hobbyist or professional. Once it carries the job as I expect I simply use it.

At the end of the day, I need to have the job done, that is all.

I see a lot of ugly artwork created with Photoshop just claiming to be professional because they are using that bloated flagship. The right tool in the hands of someone knowing his/her business will do wonders, even the simplest tools used.

I believe based on what I read in the Scirra blogs, that C3 will be succesful. When I compare it to the way other tools work, it is indeed revolutionairy. I only regret the many negative responses here on the forum even before we could try it out.

I always wondered why hobbyist - professional status is so important. Don't you think a hobbyist can outclass a professional? Like I have said before, I do not care about any title, the way I work and their results will determine the quality of the work done, not any status.

I gladly make use of the services of a so called "hobbyist" who helps me getting the work done succesfully. Again, your status doesn't interest me, your skills do!!!

  • When I read the blog posts, I am already looking forward for the public beta release. I like what I read, so I am sure C3 will forfill my expectations just like C2 does.

Up until a month ago, I only made small games for our young daughter. But at the beginning of February I decided to make other games too, which I hope to sell for a small price.

A great part of what I do in Construct is very easy to accomplish with my right hand and the tablet. Once finding your way around, everything is very logical.

I will share my experiences with the community here.

  • Welcome to the Scirra community DeepThinker98.

You will find a lot of friendly and helpfull people here in this community.

If you wish, please tell us more about your first project. I am sure you are very excited about it.

  • Thank you all for your replies.

It is not a touchscreen but a physical drawing tablet. It works in absolute mode and is pressure sensitive.

You put it in front of your screen or besides depending on your personal preference. You can even set it up for right or left handed people.

Even drawing (I am using Affinity Designer) can with one hand. You can zoom in and out by using two fingers. Also moving two fingers up or down, will scroll the window. The true power shines when you use the brush tool, then the pressure sensitivity of the pen is fully used.

Once you get accustomized to the tablet and the pen, you work faster than with a touchpad or mouse. To move the cursor without drawing or doing anything, you just hover over the tablet surface to the place where you want to be. You can use the tablet without looking to it. It is very intuitive.

  • Dear All,

Lately there is so much negativity about Construct 3, I like to share my positive story.

Last year I had two CTS operations on both hands. The right hand went fine, the left hand has complications. Because of these complications, I have very much difficulty with typing or using that hand for anything.

Early this year I bought a Wacom Medium Comic & Touch tablet to make my programming life easier. It has an onscreen keyboard when you go to the left most side, which is a very handy feature.

Of all the applications I tried, only Construct is the simplest to use. I can do almost anything within Construct with the tablet and the pen provided. I can do everything now with my right hand.

The events and behaviour system Scirra developed is simply great. I cannot name any other application which I know, who has the same genious user interface.

If you like me, having heavy constraints at one hand and want to make games, Scirra together with a good drawing tablet (does not have to be Wacom) is the place to be. On very important fact to keep in mind about the size of tablet, take your screen size into consideration. Do not buy a Large tablet for a 15.6 inch laptop screen. For most applications, a medium sized tablet is fine because it has a good convertion rate and you can take it with you wherever you go.

You will need to adapt and use a lot of practice but believe me, the moment you start mastering your tablet and Scirra, it only gets better and soon you will be up to speed with a normal user.

Keep up the good work Scirra!!! You are doing a great job and I hope we will see much more of you in the future.

The future is shining again bright, not only for the Scirra team but also for people like myself.

Thank you Scirra for giving me my future again. Hope others will find their way to Construct 2 - 3 too.

  • Dear Zebbi,

Thank you for your comments and remarks which I appreciate very much.

I regret very much that you and many others, have to create games for free. I created games for our 8 year daughter. Construct is for me an excellent tool.

As for you and the other small game developers, in my opinion, you all deserve so much more better than instead of have to do it all for free.

Its one of the reasons, I pay for any software, asset, resource I use, just out of principle.
