  • Yes, I tried it in both and the layout was good. I did find one bug. Push the up arrow on the plunger instead of down and you'll see what I mean.

    Oh my heck!

All my practice playing and I guess I never pushed the up arrow and seen that lol!

Oh well- I will get it fixed in the next update.

    Thanks for notifying me.

  • Very good. I really like it. The controls are perfect now. I'm excited to see some of the themed versions! Great job on this.

    Thanks Burvey!

I am very pleased with the new cabinet and looks real sharp.

I plan to make this a sandbox game so people can design their own themes or use existing themes. Lots of assets out there and graphic artists would have a field day designing their own components.

For now I will get the game working with a few themes of my own and then start working on the sandbox features.

Glad the keys worked for you. I noticed the letter keys seem to have more issues with ball clipping through the flippers? I will have to hit up some people with more experience to see if that can be rectified.

I also set the game so it should look good in both Chrome and Firefox.

Did you use Firefox and does is it look OK?

  • Just did a major update on my new Pinball Sandbox game:

    https://www.scirra.com/arcade/tutorial-games/pinball-physics-demo-13984

Check out the new Pinball cabinet and fancy graphic work.

  • MAJOR UPDATE:

I didn't care for the original pinball cabinet I was using so I rendered out a new cabinet that is much sharper and also set to scale so more playing field room.

I also changed the background, added a spinning wheel, more graphics and sounds and tweaked the playing field to make it more challenging and fun.

I just need a few more lights and a theme for the first game and then I will make a leader board and send this off to the Game section instead of Demo section.

After that I will work on making this a sandbox game so you can change all the features and design your own pinball games to share with your friends.

    Here is the new cabinet:

    Here is the Demo link:

If you still see the old version you need to clear your browser Cache.

  • I was mistaken and what I said is not the fact. It just looked like it because I overlooked the fact my sprite is a top down view.

abs(self.8waymovement.angleofmovement/45) just gives me errors and wont let me click done.

I have added my sprite and given it the frames, but I have no idea as of yet how to make the animations. I can only add new frames to the sprite.

In the editor you create your sprite. In the add frames box you can duplicate frames in the animations frames box. Right click to add blank frames, copy or duplicate. In the Animations box you see little rolls of film and you need to name those.

Click on one of your named film strips and the properties box will open and you can set the speed of the animations and set it to loop or not.

  • Sup covered it and I would add it is a good idea to keep animation frames to a minimum and I try to stay under 10 and that is only for a main character with most having only 4 frames or less.

Those long animations are what will really slow down the game load time.

  • I start with a good main character graphic and an idea for the mechanics. Once your main character works correctly everything else is window dressing.

For example I am working on a realistic Pinball game. The ball and flipper physics are most important and I have spent over a month getting those to work right.

    Here is the Demo:

    https://www.scirra.com/arcade/tutorial- ... demo-13984

Now that I have that working I can move on to the graphics, sounds and put in tricks I have learned to make the game function and play better.

As I am working I will get ideas for stuff I want to include and I will go searching online for the files I want or make them myself.

  • Use Create Object in the Systems command.

Create the new sprite at the position of the one you want to change then destroy the old sprite.

As long as they have the same behaviors and your events account for the change that will work.

  • OK I see the problem on Firefox and it is the fonts I used.

I fixed the problem with the ball hanging up at the top of the chute.

I will get a new version uploaded later this evening with new keys and the fixes.

  • Yes, the game was restarted and the ball was in the shoot. Also, after switching to chrome where I was able to play, 3 times in a row the ball got stuck at the top of the shoot on the plug. I had to bump with the space key in order to get the ball unstuck. Also, in firefox (at least for me) the text and LED screen isn't lined up properly. It's fine in chrome at the same resolution/size settings.

OK thanks- yes I can see a few bugs in the new version I need to fix. I will also try it in Firefox to see what is up with the LED screen.

You can hit S any time to restart so you don't have to reload. That way you can test the features and report bugs which really helps me out.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Yeah, I did. That's not what I meant. When I pulled back the plunger and released the red dot moved, but the ball wouldn't shoot. I switched to chrome from firefox and it worked so it may be a firefox issue (lots of stuff like that is). I can't play the game as is though because like I said my right arrow is broken and as soon as I launch the ball I lose immediately every time.

    Hmmmmm......

Did you click S to restart the game?

I will get the new version with the Z and / keys up soon and that should solve your problem with keys.

I am using Chrome and I have to clear my browser after each new version uploaded or I get the old version.

That is a C2 issue but it should work on any browser. It takes C2 awhile to change the versions especially if there is lots of traffic.

  • The demo isn't working anymore

If you played an old Demo you need to clear your browser cache or quit that game page and then try the link again.

C2 Arcade stores the game in your cache and when a new version is uploaded it tries to play the old version or goes to a black screen. C2 needs to address that problem.
