  • If he had a second hand boutique... I would not be a customer :S

  • Try Construct 3

  • Find you as Ignatius on Facebook or..?

  • Great consistency in the graphics. I like it. These the final colors too? If so, have you thought of having them maybe a hint stronger/brighter? It might be just the gray base color that ***** the life out the the colors but maybe having them a bit brighter in the end product would be great.

  • I am a huge devotee of doing one thing at a time when it comes to a production. If a game is story driven, start with a story. If thoughts of other areas come to your mind, write them down and put them aside until you are done with the first thing. Or what ever is the key element of the game, the unique twist that makes people play it, design that first. Graphics and music come later like Solomon said. Have a solid vision or a draft first before moving on to the actual production.

In some things it might be better to have someone else do something for you. Music or graphics for example. There is a good number of people on the forum who focus solely on these and provide their skills to those who need them

  • I feel like the project could have been completed, I just felt like I was always working against the grain, pushing the engine and trying to find workarounds.

What bothered me was that the games that inspired me to create an isometric game like Age of Empires or Baldur's Gate did this stuff 15 years ago with many more objects on screen, no overlapping units, large levels, many effects, large isometric buildings, advanced fog of war, and so on, and there were so many things that I could not recreate. Believe me, I tried.

Honestly though, I think this is a good a time as any to learn a new engine. It will simply give me more options. I'm not really abandoning the project as much as I am "postponing" it until I feel like I could do the game justice. It was a great learning project and helped me get started with game design. The game I am working on now is a little more straight forward as I mentioned in my last post, and Unreal Engine 4 is designed for this type of game. I think that makes a big difference. Work in the engine that it is designed for the kinds of games you want to make.

Hopefully, in a new months, I'll be able to show off my new game, though since it not be a C2 game, I'll have to post it in the open topic section or something.

I can definitely see that. I was doing some composing stuff with a limited edition software. Constantly running to a wall of limitations was rather frustrating eventually. I must say that you surely will have more leverage out in the gaming market with UE knowledge!

  • I'm sorry to hear that the limitations became too much

  • I so wish there was a like button here. The poster is great! It'd be great to see those on the street corners but I guess you don't have the funds for global marketing like that

  • That is a neat idea. Will the change of time happen from stage to stage or is there an actual timer that controls the sunrise?

  • Frame drops/jumps. But if you didn't see it then the problem is most likely at this end. Like I said my firefox has had some issues with video playback. I suspect the issue being that rather than glitch in animation if you didn't see it.

If there is someone else who can check the video?

  • The walking and running do look better now

Don't know if it was just my browser but did I see glitches in some of the jumps/slides? It probably is just my browser. I've had some video issues with it for a while.

  • Woow! There is a good deal of effort put into this game. Points for that!

The graphics look good and coherent. I'd try this right now if I weren't at work so I will do that once I'm home in 6 hours

  • You are welcome !

Yeah, I figured 2D was the direction you were going at. Good luck with drafting and planning! The idea is very good
