  • I would say you can definitely trust Scirra that is for sure.

But any third party cannot be trusted including google\chrome - that is where any letdowns will come from.

You are still supporting Scirra (the great tool builder^^) that now, with this model, can work faster, better and more efficient. Win for you ^^

More features and bug fixes when you get back from holiday ^^

Yeah I just mentioned that because some one thought you could just pay for a month then stop for a month etc.

But don't forget chrome is not efficient - it should be added to the virus detection list - lol

Come on people give it up they don't give a #$& about what you think so please stop talking about payment just piss me off so please stop talking about payment

Lol - yeah I guess it is a bit like flogging a dead horse.

But then again if you payed once for a year of upgrades you would have to stick with the latest version you downloaded after service expire and not expect any upgrades or bug fixes while you're not paying.

That is exactly what people would like - it is also how a sub should work.

Monthly subs usually just mean pay-by-the-month, but you are locked into it for twelve months - which means you can't just opt out for a month, you still pay for the month that you go on vacation.

I'm absolutely certain they've clarified that the ability to use the program ceases if and when your subscription expires.

    Tom said:

    • You can continue to collect revenues from published games if your subscription ends, that's fine
    • You will not be able to edit or publish games if your subscription has expired, but you can open in read only

I am in the hate subs camp too, but would happily pay more than the yearly sub - I know, weird, but subs are just that loathsome.

However I doubt it is sensible to be making the editor reliant on a third-party, especially chrome - that is super risky, rely on google lol.

As far as support the developers - yes no problem there at all, but consider:

Give all of your current user base an editor (that doesn't rely on chrome) for just:

    • $1 for ever = $3,275,900 that should feed them dinner for a while
    • $1 per month = $39,310,800 should be able to afford sweets now, likely every day!
    • $8 per month (or what ever the current sub rate is) = 375, 686, 400 - now we're talking ( yes I know that they all won't jump on board - but they would for point 2)

But I doubt C2 in a browser will be that good....

  • I have always put the license file in the C2 root folder, didn't know you could tell it to find it somewhere else.

Does it help if you do that?

  • Hey all, been away for some time now in 3D land.

I too have been looking forward to what C3 may bring, and eagerly followed the links in my emails.

I would have to say that although I can see where Scirra are coming from with the pricing of C3, I also have to be a realist, so with my web host subscription, my adobe subscription, and a few others, another subscription - especially that expensive - is out of my price range.

Personally I don't want you to host anything, all I want is a tool, and if I make a game that is worth selling I can just put it in the appropriate store.

I have a business licence for C2, so I gather that gives me a twelve months of C3 for free (I think - which is awesome - thanks ) So hopefully I can use it to make something special and sell it to the masses. Well at least a 200 hundred of them to pay the C3 sub lol.

Also if it is still at the mercy of other third parties, like the likes of Google, then I am sceptical about whether it is worth the time investment.

However, best of luck with C3 Scirra.

    Michael....

  • michael, it seems to work fine full screen to me. Not sure what running the deployment package is? I'm not using in game purchase so I can't tell about that.

paula22, interesting. When I run the game via vs there is no option to go fullscreen at all, I can max the window but there is no resize arrow to tell it to go full screen, so I get the title bar and task bar.

As for the package: When you create your app package, you get the option to build the packages to upload to the store. If you select 'No' it builds debug packages and places them in a folder location of choice. That folder contains an Add-AppDevPackage file. So you can right click the file and choose 'run with powershell', and it installs the package (also called side-loading). Just another way to test it out without any vs overhead before uploading to the store.
